@davidjmcarson1 @MarkUrban01 I see what you mean, the familial and friendship group links. Certainly reduced. One of my boys joined at 16 and nobody else in his quite large contact group even considered the forces. You think geography plays a role too? Far fewer MOD locations around the UK now.

@DavidHeadViews @MarkUrban01 You mean when a concept becomes a reality? I agree. A true threat would surely always bring a different response to a theoretical one.

@davidjmcarson1 @MarkUrban01 So you think? It's an interesting one, I think we discuss and reference the forces far more than when I was growing up (70-80's). There was no Armed forces day then or HfH etc. I agree on the service aspect though, little appetite for giving back it seems.

@naughtymom101 The sort of thing wealthy victorians used to do. A school, a library etc etc. Legacy. Not like the current super wealthy.
