@JamesMelville This is actually the case with any vaccine trials you look at, and indeed transmission isn’t always known about till some years later, particularly in low circulation of diseases. Primary endpoints are typically safety, and protection from serious adverse effects of the disease

@EssexPR The death penalty costs more than life imprisonment, and some victims feel life in prison is a higher punishment than the death penalty. We also get it wrong - more than you think. Whole life terms - should mean life, and should be harsh though.

The authors point out that whilst the vaccination group had a small raised risk of the clots discussed, those with covid infection have a significantly higher risk than the vaccine group. So risk benefit analysis still supports vaccination.

This is one of Jamie’s strangest statements to date The MHRA collect data on potential vaccine injuries, that are reported through the yellow card system. Other surveillance is done by manufacturers via phase 4 of their trial.

Clare had first suggested you ignore the study, and it’s conclusions, and simply look at the raw data. Why is this an issue? In studies cohorts are rarely evenly matched. So to fairly compare groups, adjustments are made to account for these differences

Imagine patients with pneumonia- the antibiotic treated group would have higher incidence of anaphylaxis, but an untreated group a higher incidence of sepsis, death, hypoxia and hospital admission etc.

@EssexPR The PHE 28 day data is not classed as covid deaths - it’s a raw data set to give initial numbers. Death certificate (ons) are those counted as covid deaths. Through most of the pandemic they correlated closely, up until omicron, with the PHE number typically undercounting

No, this does not mean ‘not linked to covid’ it means current covid infection is not the direct cause. It may mean covid weakened an organ or function of your body - we know for example covid damages heart, lung, brain, clotting function and so on.

@LostDazes @DrCarolineMWF To me the BMA seem to be pursuing a vanity project, to whip up their members into a frenzy, to target a small minority of healthcare workers. This is to conceal their abject failure to improve wages, working conditions, and protection of members during the pandemic
