So that amazing black Nezuko cosplayer (which was her very 1st time cosplaying btw) had to lock down her Twitter because of racist assholes. Whenever we speak up about the discrimination in the cosplay community, yall say that it doesn't exist and try to silence us. (1/9)

As a black cosplayer who's been in the game for over 10 years: Black creators get their content stolen all the time, but this aint it. Those are Danny Phantom's iconic catchphrase & pose. Other cosplayers have done these things before you. You might as well go after them too.
"My life is at stake"
Gay Ghanaians fear for their fate with the passing of the new bill that imposes prison sentences for anyone identifying as LGBTQ+.
The Hades 2 designs are sooo good! I can't wait for the game to be released! I really enjoyed Hades and looking forward to Hades 2! Did you know that I cosplayed Aphrodite a few years ago?

Reminder to cosplayers: If parts of a character's design don't translate well in real life or if you want it to be comfortable for you, then you're allowed to change up parts! Not everything has to be 100% accurate. As long as it still screams the character, then you're good!
I want everyone, and espeically the yt & non-black poc cosplayers to read up about Darrien Hunt. Years ago while cosplaying as Mugen from Samurai Champloo, he got shot and killed by the police for carrying a plastic sword. Where as last year, (1/9)
Don't invite black, plus sized, diabled, LGBTQ, or any marginalized cosplayer to only speak on diversity/body positivity panels or segments. Invite us to speak on cosplay craftsmanship/making, makeup, marketing, etc. panels/segments too! We're super talented in those areas! (1/5)
Racist fucks: *Bullies POC Cosplayers & not feature them in pages, sites, magazines, etc.*
POC Cosplayers Group: *Creates a beautiful website to feature POC Cosplayers since no other spaces will.*
Racist Fucks: "WhY aRe YoU dIvIdINg CoSplAyErS? iT sHoUlD bE fOr AlL!!11"
Heads up Cosplayers: Michael's is getting rid of the cosplay supplies (worbla, eva foam, etc) and they're on clearance right now. For those who want to try worbla, but can't because of the prices, now would be a good time to get some!
Stop supporting J*free St*r! He's trash and don't deserve your hardworking money!
"But he apologized for his racist actions and moved on."
Y'all realized that less than a year ago he called Jackie Aina, a black woman, an ape and has yet to apologize to her right?
"We never really know if our clients are guilty or innocent. All we can do is believe in them. And in order to believe in them, you have to believe in yourself."
I got back brand new photos of my Mia Fey cosplay! ⚖️

Racism is unfortunately pretty common in the cosplay community (both in your face and subtle) and especially towards black cosplayers (and even worse if they're my shade or darker). Sure we can "ignore it", but that's a super tone deaf advise when it's in our face 24/7. (2/9)
Today is the 1st day of
#28DaysOfBlackCosplay
! To start this month is
@MidnightPursona
as Isabelle from Animal Crossing! Midnight Pursona works super hard on her cosplays and content and is a sweet been! Please go & support her! ♥️
We need to work to make the cosplay and nerd community actually welcoming and safe for all, and especially for darker skinned black cosplayers and nerds. It's sad to see fellow nerds who were most likely bullied at school become bullies themselves. (3/9)
“It is simply the duty of the elite to protect the ignorant masses.”
1st cosplay of 2021: Asuka Langley Soryu (Shikinami) from Neon Genesis Evangelion!
Bodysuit from Aliexpress. Hair pins (Interface headset) made by me. Photo & edit by me.
Don't dance around it. Just admit that you're racist af and hate seeing black cosplayers, because some of y'all are acting like it. Shit like this is what causes many black cosplayers to quit and why a bunch of black nerds who want to cosplay decide not to. (4/9)
Day 3 of
#28DaysOfBlackCosplay
is
@kimistryy__
as Azula from Avatar the Last Airbender! I always love seeing her cosplays on my timeline and I feel that she and her works deserves more recognition! Go support! <3

#BlackFaeDay
🧚🏿♀️ ✨ everyone! Meet my fairy OC, Ella!! A sweet and passionate fairy who runs her own potion shop! She loves it when her customers stop by to visit and meeting new ones! 🥰
Y'all need to think before you type that comment. We're all humans and have feelings. So stfu about "If you post online then you should expect it." No one deserves to be called the "n-word *insert character*" or told that they can't pull off the character for not (7/9)
being the same shade! You racists and devils advocates are apart of the problem! And no, as a black and plus sized cosplayer, I will not shut up about this. I don't give a fuck if I lose followers for speaking up. I won't sugar coat and pull some kumbaya shit (8/9)
I actually knew about cosplaying since 2005, but didn't actually do it until 2010. The reason is because I saw so many black cosplayers online get a ton of racist comments. Also so many people told me that I wouldn't look good cosplaying because of my skin color and size. (5/9)
@dylandavii
@cohlsworld
Cosplayers are gonna cosplay as the same character and especially if the character is super popular. No one owns the character unless if it's their oc. And even if folks cosplayed the same character, there's still gonna be some differences like here.
And this shit discouraged me from cosplaying years, until my wonderful friends in HS convinced me to cosplay & stayed by me. My point is that, sure there's always gonna be racism, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to make spaces safer for black cosplayers/nerds. (6/9)
The black community is super colorist, fatphobic, homophobic, misogynistic, and transphobic. Some of y'all get mad at yt people for denying their privilege, but refuse to acknowledge yours (yes some of y'all have privileges). Only hyping up those you are "ideal" and putting
Reminder: Folks who cosplayed the same character that you did aren't "copying" you. So many others have done the same characters, poses, and wrote the quotes in the captions way before you. You don't own the character nor were you the 1st to cosplay them!
There's nothing wrong with getting viral in the cosplay community because your looks helped and it's not your fault , but don't deny the fact that being conveniently attractive gives people a huuuge advantage over others in this community, even if you both have the same skills.
to keep followers. I will continue to address the issues straight on until shit gets done! Racism exist in the cosplay community. Stop saying that it's in our heads or not true and actually stick up for us! (9/9)
I don't believe most of the "this cosplayer was so mean when I meet them" stories because most of the time it's not it. It's usually misunderstandings, anxiety, the person was the one being inappropriate to the cosplayer and cosplayer stood up for themselves, etc. (1/7)
Black Lives Matter isn't some trend thay you jump in and then forget in a week. Black Lives Matter is every single day. Every single hour. Every single minute. Every single second. The support for Black lives don't end here. Continue the support!
Some of y'all claim to be against racism, colorism, fatphobia, homophobia, (or any type of bullying) in the cosplay community, but don't actually speak up against it because y'all are scared of losing followers, con invites, and sponsorships and it really shows. (1/13)
I like how dudes who don't cosplay and have anime pics as their profile pics (and not show their faces in general) have the audacity to tear down cosplayers! Like y'all never made shit in your life and you fools think that you're qualified to be the cosplay police? GTFOH

Hi! I'm Stardust Megu and
#IRuinCosplay
because I'm a darker skinned and plus sized cosplayer who's very comfortable in my own skin & belive that cosplay is for all. Aparently it's a sin for people who's doesn't have the "right" body size and skin color to cosplay. I think not!
And the Nezuko cosplayer in question is
@Vaelniel_
! When she decides to make her Twitter public then please give her lots of love and support throughout! She deserves it! 💖
Day 8 of
#28DaysOfBlackCosplay
@ruffinmuffin_
as Claude von Riegan from Fire Emblem 3 Houses! They look amazing as Claude and in all of their cosplays! Please go and support this precious bean!
Wanna cosplay that character but you're worrird that you're not "thin" or "light" enough to "pull it off"?
Cosplay the character anyways! There's no size or skin shade requirement to be your favorite character! You're gonna look fantastic! 💞
Don't only celebrate black cosplayers when we cosplay black/darker skinned characters. It gives the bs idea that we should stick to characters with our skin color. Give that same hype to us when we also cosplay non-black characters. Stop this whole "accuracy" bs.
Yt cosplayers had guns at a beach for a shoot (I'm sure they were fake too), but they didn't get killed despite people calling the police. Notice the difference? If you didn't have to fear about losing your life because of a cosplay prop then congrats! You got privilege! (2/9)

What's wrong with this? Back in the day emo black kids denied their blackness but this kid is embracing his. There's no one correct way to be black. There's no such thing as "sounding white". Nerdy emo black folks are still black and just as valid!
I don't wanna toot my horn or anything, but I look super fine as Byleth. I need to fix up the cosplay a bit, add a few stuff, and reshoot! I'm aiming to do all of this sometime before the end of the year. ♥️
Cosplay made and worn by me!
🤣 at the folks complaining about this. This is nothing!
1. It's canon. Nanami does this.
2. This is tame af compared to some of the extreme shit folks do at cons.
3. Y'all must be new here. Call back when you experience getting hit by the Yaoi paddles, glomping, etc.
With the shit that happened with the Nezuko cosplayer, I noticed that so many are lumping "POC" & "black" together. It's actually diminishing the black struggles. The struggles that black cosplayers & non-black POC cosplayers face are completely different. Black cosplayers

Just want to say for the millionth time that racism isn't just saying the n-word and physical. A lot of it is subtle, which is how it starts. When we're calling it out, we ain't "reaching". We stopping it at the root before it grows.
That's why when I cosplayed Motoko Kusanagi, I deliberately chose not to have any prop weapons, but people gave me a hardass time saying that my cosplay would've been perfect if I had a prop gun. They don't understand that black cosplayers don't have the luxury (4/9)
Black cosplayers choosing not to incorporate afros & locs in their cosplays or choosing not to cosplay the only black character isn't some deep rooted anti-blackness (stfu with the hotep nonsense). Black cosplayers aren't a monolith. Let us cosplay however way we want in peace.
Yt women aren't the only women who are gamers. There are so many black women, POC women, trans women, plus sized women etc who are gamers too. If you're only showing yt women & leaving out other types of women (btw are majority of your supporters) then this is performative af.
"Dance, Carmen!"
3rd new cosplay of 2021: Panther (2.0) aka Ann Takamaki from Persona 5! I remade this cosplay for
#CosplayPowerHour
and in time for Persona 5 Strikers (which is out now!)! Are you guys also playing or planing to? Let me know!
Cosplay made by me!
So if you see a black cosplayer without a prop weapon, don't point out that shit or bitch at us for not having it. Don't say that our cosplays would've been better with it. We know we don't have it. There's a reason why we choose not to have it with us. (7/9)
Ben from Night of the Living Dead was the 1st black main protagonist in a horror film! Ben was originally written as a foul mouthed white truck driver, but George Romero was so impressed with Jones' audition that he not only gave him the role, but also changed Ben's character, ⬇️
Since cons are coming back again (and yes I'm jumping on this bandwagon): if you're struggling to pay your bills, food rent, etc. and looking for a job, then you shouldn't be attending cons (and especially traveling out of state to attend one). 🤷🏿♀️
This is what black cosplayers fear when it comes to weapon props. I feared this before Darrien got killed. When I cosplayed Saya Kisaragi from Blood-C with my prop sword years ago & from Overwatch with my prop gun. And especially being at NYC. (3/9)
I don't want to keep draging the Corona Caren Cosplayer Saga any further, but I feel that y'all need to know this. I can 100% confirm that her apology is complete bs. According to sources, hours after she posted her apology she went on her discord and posted this.. (1/4)
If you found out that your friend or ally you've collabed with is a predator & legit didn't know, I understand being shocked, & taking time to digest, but if you still continue to support despite now knowing then it's a huge slap in the face to all victims out there. 1/4
Tune in on June 21 at 7:00 a.m. PT for a
#NintendoDirect
livestream featuring roughly 40 minutes of information focused mainly on Nintendo Switch titles launching this year, including new details on Pikmin 4.
Watch it live here:
of freely carrying prop weapons. Even if black cosplayers hide it while traveling to a shoot or to a con, suppose they get stopped by the police and they do a search? You know how the cops are. They shoot/arrest 1st and ask questions later. (5/9)
Can companies and folks stop praising cosplayers by putting others down? This quote sends a super harmful message. It can make other cosplayers & those who want to cosplay feel that they're not good enough because they don't look a certain way.
Dang these fools must really hate my Rin cosplay! Most of it was here on Twitter when I first posted the newer pics, but this newer one is on my IG.
Guess I'll cosplay Rin even more! This dude is gonna explode when I do Ishtar this year! 😂😂
(1/5) Deciding on your own to admit to your audience that you fucked up, show serious remorse, decide to step away, and wanting to grow from it isn't "cancel culture". It's taking responsibility for your actions.
I go by Stardust Megu and I'm from NYC. I'm proud to be a Darker Skinned and Plus Sized Cosplayer! Cosplay as any character you want regardless of your skin color or size! You'll look fantastic! ❤
Cosplay is rated E for everyone so deal with it haters! 😎
#BlackCosplayerHere
When black cosplayers have prop weapons then they risk getting arrested or killed by the police. When they don't have then assholes tear down our cosplays. That it sucks & inaccurate but are less likely to do this with yt & non-black poc cosplayers who dont have theirs too. (6/9)
I might get hate, but I want to see more darker skinned & plus sized folks in the cover of these cosplay/nerdy magazines! The very few times that they do have black folks is if they're "ideal" (thinner/lighter skinned). I wish to see people that look like me be represented more.
Once again thank you guys so much for the kind words on my Lenore cosplay!! 🥰 This really means the world! I still can't belive how beautiful I look as her!

The police and people in general see our skin color as a threat alone. But add a prop weapon and in their eyes we're public enemy
#1
, but yt people carry real weapons and the police don't bother them. This was literally how Darrien Hunt and even Tamir Rice got killed. (8/9)
It's so wild that some cis black women choose to be transphobic, when society doesn't see us as feminine & how most of us experienced treatment that's similar to transphobia due to it.
You would think more of us would be much more sympathetic & supportive of our trans sisters.
This tweet & the account got removed a few mins after reporting, but I want to post it here to show you guys how crucial intersectionality is if yall are gonna support black cosplayers. Ex: Black cosplayers who are also darker skinned & plus sized face even more hate. (1/6)
