The Births, Deaths and Marriages bill (sex self-ID) passed unanimously in the House today. Our goal has always been the protection of women’s rights in law. Although this new law represents an erosion to those rights, we’re glad that our advocacy led to the inclusion of clause 80
everyone knows which sex class can get pregnant and the associated issues and discrimination. The female experience cannot be legislated out of existence. This law simply means New Zealand is losing protections for women and children, data and opportunities to redress inequality.

Jan Tinnetti in the House talking about “menstruating students” who use period products. Periods are sex based and occur only to girls and women. Disheartening to see that the so-called Minister for Women continues to be unable to acknowledge sex based biology and reality.

I got an email from SUFW today, and two more form emails from constituents. One of the emails was full of transphobia.
I’m very clear on this: trans women are women, trans men are men, and I support the BDMRR bill.
8 categories & 6 male winners including the category of Girls Track & Field Athlete. Yes, that’s right. Terry Miller, transwoman, won the Girls category. Fair?
This is good news - so-called "hate speech" legislation was likely to silence women (and men) who say sensible things like:
- A man cannot be a woman
- A boy cannot be a girl
- A woman cannot be a man
