A huge rainbow to brighten everyone’s day!! 🌈The children have written little messages that we are going to put up too. Stay safe everyone from Mrs Whitehouse 😀
We have arrived safe and sound and done our walk to the hall. Snow is on the hills in the distance but not much on the ground. We're excited to start the activities!
@realrobinwood
We are all so incredibly proud of Mrs Fields who attended the graduation ceremony for her Postgraduate Certificate in National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination on Friday. A well deserved accolade for an awful lot of hard work. Hats off to you Mrs Fields! 🎓🎓🎓
Year 4 finish a busy day off with hot chocolate and biscuits. We've all had a great day and are finishing it by nominating our little heroes of the day. Well done everyone!
@RealRobinwood
Year 4 have made it to Robinwood! After a long walk and rainy lunch, they have now started their first activities. How exciting!

Everyone had such a wonderful time at our Queen's Jubilee Party today! A huge thank you to Dance City for leading Lindyhop and Jive lessons, Lee Sterry for leading games, Jesmond Ice Cream Co, Our Steel Pans club & choir and most of all our PTA and all of our parents and carers!
What a fantastic way to start our day! The whole school loved watching Aladdin this morning and enjoyed joining in with the singing and clapping with the actors. Thank you
@MandMTheatrical
for another brilliant pantomime!
Thank you
@CatMcKinnell
We have had endless issues with FSM vouchers, with many of our eligible families not receiving them. It takes hours to log on to the Edenred system and it is basically impossible to speak to someone to help. This simply isn’t good enough for our families!
The system the Govt have put in place to deliver free school meal vouchers to vulnerable pupils in Newcastle isn't fit for purpose. School staff have been working all hours trying to get help to those who need it. My letter to the PM to urge him to get a grip on this 👇
Tonight we celebrated a birthday and had a lot of excitement in the team challenge. We look forward to tomorrow morning’s activities before we return home.
@RealRobinwood
We had a very special visitor opening our new school library today. We welcomed Mrs. Dixon back to school to officially open ‘The Dixon Library!’ We can’t wait for all of the children to start choosing books and allow their love of reading to flourish! 📚
🌟 I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the whole school community for their kind messages, cards and gifts as I said my fond farewells today after 13 and a half years at S.G.F.S. Many thanks for everything, Mrs. Fields. 🌟
Look at what our children in Y2 have received... An email from Mini Grey, the author of ‘Traction Man’ and a personal, handwritten letter response from DAVID ATTENBOROUGH himself! WOW!
Look at our lovely Irem who is gracing the pages of the latest Asda magazine with her very own recipe for sesame salmon! A new Nigella in the making...
Year One created this display of yellow daffodils and messages of hope and positivity on a day we know for many will be one of reflection on the losses of the last year. We hope it helps everyone to look forward to brighter times ahead.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs Anderson and Mrs England, 2 wonderful and kind members of our school community, who have worked so hard to make new covers for the reading seats in our non fiction library. They look fantastic and our children will love reading on them!

A warm welcome to all to our new whole school Twitter page! What a wonderful week we have had in school for 'Awe and Wonder' week! The children have been mesmerised by an amazing dinosaur visitor who laid an egg in our school. A really special week which everyone will remember...
Our beautiful rainbows of hope which the children in school completed today. They brighten up our school entrance which is much quieter without all of the children’s smiling faces. After every storm, there’s a rainbow...

He lived one hundred years
The world will surely grieve
But what a story he has written
A proud legacy he will leave
So goodnight to our country’s hero
Who now walks to heaven’s door
A man who deserves all plaudits
Goodbye Sir Thomas Moore
Rest In Peace Captain Sir Tom Moore 🌈
The Teacher's Team performed particularly well in the 'Dress the Deputy Head as a Mummy' challenge. They were eventually robbed of the winner's title due to some very suspect marking.
@RealRobinwood
Our Year 3 and 4 performance of 'The Christmas Code' was an absolute triumph! The children were clear and confident delivering their lines and they sang like angels. It really was like watching a professional show! Everyone who took part has made us all so proud...🌟🌟🌟
A brilliant first day back for all of our children today! A big thank you to all of the pupils, staff and families of South Gosforth First School who all worked together to make the transition back to school such a special and happy day 😀

Dear Parents & Carers. After tonights announcement by the Prime Minister, there are still a lot of plans which need to be put in place to ensure that school can open safely for more pupils. We will be in touch with you all as soon as we have more definitive information. Thank you
Years 1-4 were inspired today by a visit from Andrew Moffat and his message that everyone is different and everyone is welcome. No-one is an outsider at South Gosforth First School!

Just 10 days until all of our wonderful children are back to school 🙂
Please rest assured that our first priority is to support all of our pupils to feel safe, happy and settled back in to school life before we begin the process of academic recovery.
Happy children learn best!
It's Bikeability week in Year 4!
Today the children have completed their Bikeability Bike Fix training, where they have learnt how to check, adjust and look after their bikes. They will be using their bike in the next couple of days when they do Bikeability Level 1 training.
Look at our beautiful new ‘Reading Tree’ which Mr Woodley completed today! It has all of our SGFS ‘Reading Spine’ on it for each year group in our school - Isn’t it wonderful! 😍
Intent: Culture Our choir sang beautifully at Eldon Square yesterday. They have worked so hard this year and deserved the fantastic reception they received from their audience.

‘Christmas Tree, oh Christmas Tree...’
We have an EXTRA large tree this year and have had it delivered early so that we can all get in to the Christmas spirit...
Thank you to our Year 4 helpers who helped us to decorate it.
Isn’t it a beauty! 😍
Year 1.
Intent - Creativity.
During our art afternoon we listened to the music of Debussy and looked at the artwork of Zaria Forman to help us create water lines and shapes. 😀
The children in school this week have enjoyed going “Around the World” and finding out about different countries. If you are out on your daily exercise, come and see our display in the windows at the front of school. 🌎
What a gorgeous response from Alexander to our ‘Agents of Hope’ assembly which we shared today from Andrew Moffatt.
‘This is Gurdeep dancing outside of Alexander’s house and everyone on the street is making him feel welcome...’

Reception have had fun during the last two weeks with our first Talk for Writing story "The Little Red Hen". We created class Story Maps and some children then created their own. We ended the week making our own bread. It was delicious!
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Christmas fayre yesterday, to the staff for giving their time on a weekend and our amazing PTA for organising such a great event. It was a brilliant day which the children and families of SGFS really enjoyed 🎄🎄🎄
In our Key Stage One Assembly today we read the story ‘What Happened to You?’ and discussed how the children’s comments may make Joe feel. We linked this to being respectful and our No Outsiders message of ‘Everyone Different, Everyone Welcome’.

We had great fun exploring the snow today and the children noticed that the pond had frozen over. The warm sun had already melted some of the snow on the ground, making it wet and slushy and perfect for making ice soup in the mud kitchen!
Reception have enjoyed another week of The Three Little Pigs for our Talk for Writing project. They have built dens, made junk model houses and created story maps. Great team work and lots of fantastic story language! 🐷🐷🐷
Our Year 4 explorers at Robinwood are having the most amazing time! We have been busy doing a whole host of different activities and will be tired out when we get back tomorrow!

Our children in school continued their journey around the world today and visited Kenya 🇰🇪. They created some fantastic silhouette paintings of the sunset on the savannah.
💕Tree of Hope💕 This week, the children and staff in school have created a Tree of Hope. We thought about all of the things we are looking forward to doing once restrictions allow! 🌈
Our Y2 children are famous! Take a look at some of our pupils carrying out a science investigation about whale blubber in the latest edition of ‘Science & Nature’ magazine! A big thank you to Mrs Logan for sharing this - The editors of the magazine were obviously very impressed!
This week, Reception have loved opening their very own cafe! They enjoy deciding when to visit the cafe and choose their own healthy snack and milk and live then sitting chatting with their friends about their day, their likes and their lives! 🍎
