I once heard ska described as "what plays in a 13-year old's head when he realises that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves" and nothing is more accurate.
Ska music has been around longer than rock/metal music.
It has evolved alongside the initial waves of what we now consider mainstream music itself, always informing rock, pop & dance music genres.
Rock fans going in on what YOU consider 'ska': your limited knowledge is SHOWING
Arcade Perfect came out 14 years ago… wow!
We were so caught on the treadmill. We wrote and recorded and released that album barely a year after our first album.
The intro to this album and the riff that kicks in is one of the best things we ever did.
You know what's sad?
Rock/metal podcasters that bang on about inclusivity and are celebrated as a breath of fresh air of representation in the scene berating 'ska music' like the dirt-worst 6th form music snobs circa 2005. And stop using 'TW' as a punchline, girls 🤮
#sameold
Yes, we've been a bit silent. You're right.
The whole thing's been toxic enough without us sticking our oars in.
But, OK. You asked for it...
Labour.
*GASPS*
Ska heads - thanks for digging 'Future Shock' but I'm pleased to tell you that the B-side and our other new track is a jungly ska-punk thing in the tradition of The 'Old Boom'. It'll drop soon!
It's even got a brass section on it 🎺
Ta! Very few bands were subject to the relative derision, bullying & hate we got. The ‘marmite band’ 🤮
We were an outspoken band fronted by a working class Asian female. MANY in the rock & punk scenes couldn’t handle that. MANY were female.
Really hope things are changing. ❤️
Imagine if we stopped idolising morons & started idolising people like
@Laila_K
who was one of the ONLY women I saw in the UK alt scene growing up and who’s gone on to change people’s lives through her work with
@nordoffrobbins
& beyond. What a woman.
BOOM! Sonic Boom Six is back with the

On this day in 2009,
@SonicBoomSix
released their third studio album, City Of Thieves.
Bloody love this album and how the songs are such a diverse style, one minute we're in a hardcore punk, the next ska, such a great blend. Love Back 2 Skool but they're all superb.
@Laila_K
Big up all bands and brands that are getting off the fence and letting the fans that support racism and fascism and to jog on, risking loss of revenue... and having to sit and read their whining responses(!)
Props to Black Sabbath, DC Comics & everyone else doing what's right.
On this day in 2012,
@SonicBoomSix
and
@Laila_K
released their self titled fourth studio album.
Wonderful album, love the different styles included in all SB6 albums!
Favourites are For The Kids Of The Multiculture, Virus & Keep On Believing are brilliant songs!
so many kids in the US asking us to come over - it's HEARTBREAKING that brexit & visa costs make it unattainable now compared to how it used to be to travel as an independent band without a grotesque amount of red tape and abject financial fuckery. we've buggered the world up 😞
In seriousness, was cathartic to talk through SB6 history on
@indefenseofska
and we hit the high points and the LOW points.
Was worried it was gonna come across as negative, but I think we hit a balance.
It's made me feel excited for doing new stuff. The world is ready now 😂✊
💥 enough with the hints... SB6 is proud to announce we are returning to the USA in April 2024 to appear at This Is Not Croydon Fest 5 along with The Aggrolites, The Suicide Machines and many more! 🇺🇸

Old Trafford News 2009!
I remember my uncle being prouder of this than anything else we'd ever done!
He'd always have extra copies to give to his mates in the pub! 😂
For those who have spotted us on The Sims soundtrack on TikTok. Yes, it's true! We recorded a Simlish version of 'For the Kids of the Multiculture' and here it is! 😂
ok so last night I was searching for babyboom on cd and couldn’t find it…
but I did find a full pro shoot on dvd of a gig 5 days after ruff guide was released - whole hour set at the underworld supporting ad 7.
this needs to see the light of day! 🙀
I'm not mad that a bunch of rockers think ska is music played by silly Americans in shorts.
I'm sad that the new face of rock journalism - promising to dismantle the boy's club - say that they would bail on their Tinder date because the person likes a different style of music 🙃
We hope that the great and good of the music industry don't ever discover that this very sensible and professional-looking photo is a reject from a ska album (The F-Bomb!) cover shoot. 😂

Flashback to touring with Mighty Mighty Bosstones this year. I know we've been quiet but album six won't be too long and next year we'll be hitting the road again!

Dear Sexy Fish London, we turned up to your restaurant looking like this and you looked me and my friend up and down and said no you can’t come in and your restaurant was EMPTY.
no one's even commented that on our first album we had a song about the future being great and in 2023 we have a song about the future being shit.
TBF to me, who could have predicted andrew tate, 'fake news', flat earthers and All Lives Matter in 2006
🗣 Laila and Barney had the pleasure of appearing on the

Sound Of A Revolution is officially your favourite song off the record! Who remembers this?! ✊
I was holding my two year old daughter on a walk moments ago and for the first time out of nowhere she said,
“Chips and samosas”
I started to quietly tear up. She couldn’t see my face and I didn’t make a sound, but she said,
“Don’t cry. It’s okay.”
I was holding my two year old daughter on a walk moments ago and for the first time out of nowhere she said,
“God is good. God is real.”
I started to quietly tear up. She couldn’t see my face and I didn’t make a sound, but she said,
“Don’t cry. It’s okay.”
That was about 23 year olds that leave behind their principles soon as they get a job.
On the coming album we’ll have one about 40 year olds pulling up the drawbridge once they’ve bought a house.
We are still the last angry men!
Perhaps our old-school fans were right.
Perhaps everything diabolical that has happened over the last five years is because of that album we made in 2012 with Virus and Kids Of the Multiculture on.
On this day in 2006,
@SonicBoomSix
released their debut studio album The Ruff Guide To Genre Terrorism.
Always loved SBS, this is a great album, The Calling, Patriarch On A Vespa, Northern Skies & Don't Say I Never Warned Ya! my favourites! Superb album!
@Laila_K
Brexiteers like 'you know what, we LIKE the pound being low. Low. Heavy and regal. Nice and low. And so what it's low? It's our pound. It's ours to go low with! We can do what we want with it. God save the queen. A swan can break your arm.' 💷📉
On this day in 2007,
@Laila_K
and
@SonicBoomSix
