I would like a heart warming Hallmark Movie about how a mega-church was oppressing people in the neighborhood and some folks stood up to them. Then the church collapsed over the holidays and the capital the leaders were hoarding was distributed to the poor - a miracle!

When I was an evangelical, I was concerned about the government being on a slippery-slope toward totalitarianism - against Christianity. I now believe that fear was mostly a projection of our desire to create a theocracy and force others to submit to the white church's rule.

A church plant in Portland has a full-page add in WW. The pastor recently moved from Albuquerque where he was at a Calvary Chapel megachurch that is anti-LGBTQ+ and patriarchal but he's promoting his church as counter cultural and accepting of different people. Don't fall for it.
