We decided to make our school's () platform free for anyone to use and just launched the alpha version! (It's a skill tree for navigating and tracking knowledge acquisition) 📖📚

Sad that an outlet would frame this as unprofessional. Where should the kids be—at home with a stay-at-home parent? If we want to empower women & address plummeting birth rates, we must normalize kids in the office (and ideally offer in-house childcare!).
Lifting is to exercise as masturbation is to sex. We suspect if it were studied, we would see that lifting is deeply unhealthy contrasted with finding organic opportunities for manual labor. 🧵
Men's testosterone levels drop when they secure stable, committed partners and again when they have kids. When you see a jacked guy in his mid 30s, you’re looking at someone whose hormones are responding to a failure scenario (failure to secure a stable partner + reproduce). 🧵
“How can you say political beliefs have a heritable component? My parents were small-minded, bigoted, dogmatic extremists who didn’t tolerate independent thought within their small-town American community, but I grew up to be SJW living in NYC/SF/LA.”
It's remarkable how much society has lost its mind around this issue—that they would conflate a light slap meant to shock and reorient attention with ritualized punishment designed to hurt (something that should be taken very seriously).
Slapping kids is fine, and people should do it more. People horrified by this are liberals with genes that are high on conformity and don’t understand that some people’s children need this.
Much respect to the Collinses for doing it in front of a journalist.
People who write about us online dunk on me (Simone) for being ugly. When you make fun of a woman for her looks and she is happily married to a man she respects with a lot of kids, you’re just pointing out that she beat you on a harder difficulty setting.
Sam Bankman-Fried perfected unadulterated hedonism. People forget that—more than food or fancy houses—being famous for being a good person and believing you are a good person is EXTREMELY pleasurable. SBF’s life & lifestyle were defined by a constant search for pleasure. 🧵 (1/8)
It's easy to miss how close Woke ideology is to Nazism. Lets translate the Nazi pitch into woke vernacular: “Jews are rich racists who's position of systemic privilege can only be resolved by removing them from the economy and redistributing their assets." 🧵
What nobody told us about parenting (but should have) is just how much we'd love our kids--not because they're "ours" or because they're cute, but because they're genuinely funny, insightful, surprising people who are fun to hang out with.
Totally underrated parenting bonus.
We've always loved it when employees brought their kids to the office and we've been bringing our own kids to the office + business meetings since they were five days old. It's good for kids to be close with parents. This is how folks have worked for thousands of years.
"I won't have kids because my life is harder than my parents lives!"
Skip to your great, great grandparents' thousand-yard stare as they fail to even conceive of the privileges you take for granted.
We went from a generation of intellectuals saying, “I am spiritual but I hate organized religion,” to one saying: “I am not spiritual or into the theology stuff, but organized religion needs a resurgence.”
It is deeply sad that we live in a world in which men aspire to be optimized teenagers instead of successful fathers. Tate is to teenage boys what Blippi is to toddlers. No adult wants that lifestyle. (5/5)
At the end of a long day, we couldn't imagine looking at our kids and thinking: "Nah, I'd rather still look young and sexy" or "I'd rather be jet-setting around the world" (though we def worried about those tradeoffs pre kids).
It's really tough to to model post-kid life.
It has been interesting to see coverage of demographic collapse and pronatalism shift from: "These people are crazy" to "These people are crazy and they might be right."
Mark our words: Demographic collapse is one of the greatest risks of our time.
“Oh, you hadn’t had sex with a guy when you started dating your husband. Did you take a virginity pledge or something?”
“Autism was my virginity pledge. I could never tell when people were hitting on me.”
There's going to be a growing tension between hardline conservative cultures (that have more kids) and highly progressive cultures (that aren't having many kids) as parents become increasingly defensive about their kids being converted. Not looking forward to it.
Miyazaki films have totally replaced Disney in our family: Kids react much more viscerally to them when contrasted to the hollow soulless trash Disney is pushing these days.
Our chat with
@Aella_Girl
became one of our favorite Based Camp episodes so far. She shed TONS of light on noncon orgies for those of us who go to bed at 8:30pm and can't manage to stay up for cool people things.
The behind-the-scenes stuff is SO FUN!
Most conservatives exist merely because conservative parents decided to have kids. Most progressives exist because teachers/professors converted a conservative family’s kids. If the right wins the School Battle, they win the Culture War.
Most of my (Simone's) most treasured mom/dad memories didn't involve strutured play or special outings, but rather mundane chores—laundry, errands, cleaning, cooking, etc.
The industries built around entertaining kids create a false perception that kids need to be entertained.
The woke mind virus tells you not to have kids because if you did you might start spending your time on something other than spreading it. Once it controls you, it erases your identity and you live only to serve as its reproductive organs.
Testosterone shortens your lifespan (it is a major reason why men don’t live as long as women). Men’s bodies are biologically geared to make them disposable, short-lived fighting machines in societies in which only the strongest men reproduce. (3/5)
Dear Twitter: Good catch—we misread an article we cited. While it did show bodybuilders die younger we overstated how much younger. We were more interested in pissing people off on the internet than accuracy, not expecting the tweet to go quite as viral as it did. (1/7) 🧵
Theories redditors have for crashing youth dating rates:
1. Phones
2. Balkanization of cultural touchstones
3. Loss of inexpensive hangout places
4. Cost
5. No desire for it
We argue kids are infantilized and over-supervised. What's your hot take?
Child rearing doesn't *have* to be unsustainable. Parents don't *have* to helicopter parent. Arguably, all that extra time investment is doing more harm than good (consider the youth mental health crisis).
Let's all do ourselves a favor and just chill the f*** out a little. 😅
Working mothers today spend more time on childcare than did housewives in the 1960s!
Excerpt from
@bryan_caplan
's book Selfish Reasons To Have More Children:
While light exercise is beneficial to one's health (in the same way a little bit of fat is), professional level weight lifting lowers a man's life span to an average 47.7 well below the 77.28 year male average in the USA and lower than that of a severely
@jennykleeman
And you had a tame day! Once an author was staying over while interviewing us for a book and we found ourselves all hitting the deck after hearing a gunshot right outside. Turns out police shot an injured deer mere feet from our front porch, but took us a while to learn that 😂
We are shocked that left-leaning Jews are *only just now* learning how much their own party hates them. Antsemtisim is a natural and necessary conclusion of progressive philosophy so long as Jews are successful. 🧵
When men’s biology detects the presence of a dedicated breeding partner it says, “oh great, now I don’t need to be set to go-big-or-die-trying mode.” (4/5)
Malcolm: So you're listening to my convo with
@ChrisWillx
; thoughts?
Simone: Hm. Maybe you'll want to filter yourself more in the future?
M: [Listens to 45s] Ah. I see.
S: Tho we *are* at an existential tipping point, so maybe not?
M: Yeah, f**k it.
When someone signals they’re a good person but doesn’t break from the predominant social narrative, note that wanting to be a good person & wanting people to *think* you’re a good person are not aligned missions. In reality, the good guy sometimes has to play the villain. (8/8)
Woke people call everyone else Nazis because their ideology is just transparently Nazism with a new coat of paint. We are constantly baffled how anyone can support wokeism and not see how poorly history will judge them or what their ideology could be used to justify.
Low female workforce participation is the aberration, not the norm. Removing women from the workforce will NOT solve demographic collapse.
It is evil to use pronatalism (or ANY cause—social justice, environmentalism, etc.) to push your cultural agendas on others.
Parenting = way more sustainable than we thought.
Before having kids we thought we'd have to schedule kid outings & play dates to make them happy. Turns out they enjoy simple things (making a couch fort while we clean the floors, grocery shopping, etc) just as much—if not more.
While you can have both high T and a lot of kids (Tate claims to have 10) by supplementing, reducing emotional investment, or going poly, kids of less-invested fathers are more likely to drop their culture and succumb to the sterilizing memes so prevalent in our society. (2/5)
Growing up rebellious, we were told one day we would be the old person and the next generation would do things that would shock even us. Hah, yeah right!
Tell you what, we did *not* expect kids to start chopping off their dicks.
People almost never start doing interesting things after they get rich if they were not doing them before. If your plan is to wait until you have “made it” before you challenge the status quo in an interesting way, you never will.
The field of psychology is turning into a cult. Literally.
Elements of people's lives are beibg reframed as trauma that only the therapy industry can treat. (1/2)
Believe it or not, adult humans have evolved to derive genuine happiness/contentment from kids. Chasing after the things that made you happy in youth as an adult simply won't yield the happiness it used to.
There are few things more perverse and dehumanizing than a marriage founded on basal human emotions like love and lust. Depending on your worldview, these are either tools of the devil or things we experience because ancestors who experienced them had more surviving offspring.
Counterintuitively, our anxiety/stress is LOWER with kids.
1. They pull you back in the moment and focus you on simple stuff like identifying colors/things.
2. They get you really accustomed to & chill with life not going according to plan.
3. They constantly make you smile.
It is impossible to be based without also being cringe.
Any lifestyle or opinion tempered, censored, or moderated by a fear of social rejection is definitionally not based.
We bet people freak out when weightlifting is attacked because of a deep insecurity among those who LIFT™ as to whether it is a productive use of time or just the male version of the fat acceptance movement. (2/4)
“Their systemic privilege evident by their over representation in high paid jobs means us targeting them cannot be called racist and that they have higher paid jobs and live in gated communities (ghettos) is proof they have been victimizing other groups.”
Yes, lifting is “harder” to keep up than fat acceptance, but being ripped does not make it a productive use of time. It is also hard to masturbate ten times a day or to become a guild leader in WoW. (3/4)
🫥 Scientific field size "may impede the rise of new ideas. Examining 1.8 billion citations among 90 million papers across 241 subjects, we find a deluge of papers does not lead to turnover of central ideas in a field, but rather to ossification of canon."
Even we find it hard to fully comprehend the cultural disparity & differing birth rates between rural/trad and urban/progressive regions, but man... when we contrast the number of families we see at a rural Tractor Supply store vs. an urban Trader Joe's, it hits us hard.
For the record, pronatalism isn't about increasing the overall human population--it's not about spamming the world with people. It's about protecting human flourishing and pluralism while brokering a soft landing on demographic collapse.
I can’t really square people’s enthusiasm for raising the birth rate for the mountains of evidence that only a small number of humans are considered necessary or valuable by our society.
It actually seems like everywhere you look ostensibly traditional powers are trying
♥️
@mjnblack
’s piece on technophilic pronatalism! The only thing it misses about our view: A world of only our descendents = failure. The goal is to protect the diverse society folks now take for granted & bring everyone along for the ride.

Hear hear: "employers can no longer rely on applicants with university degrees to be more capable or smarter than those without degrees." 🔥
Societies need vetting bodies because employers & people are lazy and prefer to outsource vetting, but unis are rapidly falling short.
Meta-analysis: In recent decades, the intelligence quotient of university students and university graduates dropped to the average of the general population.
Compare someone like SBF to someone like
@elonmusk
. A lot of the things Musk does piss people off (even us sometimes), but in doing so he demonstrates that he doesn’t do what he does just for praise. The fact that saying this will piss some people off is proof of that. (5/8)
Sexuality is a field of research frozen in time because in the 80s, social groups started building their identities around it, meaning now the field cannot continue to evolve without undermining people's identities.
Get this: The same people who talk about how offensive it is that we believe certain aspects of a human's psychological profile are predilected by genetics do not see it as offensive in any way to believe that those same aspects are predilected by star signs. 🙃
It's weird to contrast the amount of visceral hate we get online (e.g., "I hope your kids grow up to hate you," etc.) against the tranquility of IRL life. 😅
#Pronatalist
policy doesn't have to involve expensive subsidies and payments. It doesn't have to be government-run. We were honestly just thrilled to see priority parking at a grocery store! Just make parents' lives a wee bit easier or cooler!
Our favorite people are those who have thoughtful, logical disagreements with us. Really enjoyed this article.
We have TONS of counter arguments, of course, but love the criticisms!
Holidays are really about kids (and play an underrated role in culture transfer). Pre kids, we loved holidays, but didn't bother to really celebrate—yet now here we are topping off Easter weekend with hanami nights. Can't wait to playtest new holidays we've been designing.
People acting as though the situation in Israel right now is a conflict between "two groups that both did some bad things," are like the psychos who after Columbine were like, "Well, the kids where picked on a lot by a few of the people they killed." 🧵
We rarely find people less happy than Men's Rights types and Feminists. People who divide the world into an us-vs-them mentality deserve the hell they create for themselves.
Artificial womb technology is perhaps the single most understated technological revolution that could happen in our lifetimes. It will completely transform everything from the role of sex to gender in what it means to be human.
People sometimes wonder why we hate the progressive movement so fervently. We hate it because we value diversity and modern progressivism is defined above all by an absolute intolerance for meaningful diversity. 🧵
Turns out cruises are great for seeing what foods and activities kids like without needing to pay incrementally for them (any parent who has dropped good money on a wasted meal or attraction gets why this matters).
+ cruises are floating dystopian cities, so what's not to love?
Antinatalist progressives often accuse us of having a “breeding fetish.” Has the mind virus really hollowed them out so deeply they can not imagine a reason to have kids, to do anything, beyond sexual gratification?
Bizarre how many people ignore obvious and well-researched facts because they don’t align with their political philosophy.
Maybe choose an evidence-based political philosophy rather than find evidence to support your political philosophy?
While there are no papers on the long-term cognitive effects on epidurals, there seem to be a dozen published every month on long-term cognitive effects of breastfeeding. Why is this? Is it big pharma? Is it the liberal infestation of the academic bureaucracy? No. (4/10)
@HolyChrisMolina
Don't forget Germany, where homeschooling is illegal (making cultural homogenization via public school way easier).
We get complaints about this (and signs that it's happening) from parents everywhere—including parents in the US. It's really worrying.
Really good (but sobering) read. "The popularity of childfree-thinking and now antinatalism are not flashes in the pan. They are not signposts that we’re hedonists or too selfish to have children. They are canaries in the coal mine: for many, modern life is despair."
I wrote about pro-mortalism in
@unherd
.
Recently,
@kaschuta
and I did an interesting deep dive into antinatalism, childfree movements, and pro-mortalism, more on that soon...
We've found an older-age equivalent to "here comes the choo choo train" that actually seems to convince disinterested, picky toddlers to eat some food.
Anyone else have hacks we should try? We're all ears here.
It's lame that society infantalizes youth so much seeing how much kids love acting like adults.
We'll take our kids to playgrounds; we get them crazy cool toys and books, yet in the end, they're equally excited to:
1. Go grocery shopping
2. Do laundry
3. Take out trash
etc.
Posting for retweet in a few years: We really hope people remember how crazy we sounded when we started talking about prosperity-induced population collapse. You and we know today's critics will act as though they never doubted the extent of the problem once it becomes obvious.
Re: Those saying "Folks don't date, have kids, etc. b/c they can't afford it" GET A GRIP
Here's a '40s video on budgeting in which a kid saves for 20w for a camera They made it work.
Disposable income has never been higher (h/t
@KirkegaardEmil
for graph)
Our kids like testing boundaries. A LOT. And we love it. Boundary pushing is how how you learn others' limits (and your own). It's how you develop resilience.
But oh man, when they cooperate and collaborate, we are sooooo happy
Big salute to all the dads out there. People go on about how pregnancy is rough but dude, have you SEEN a father with toddlers? 😂
Also, Malcolm, happy father's day. You're the beating heart of this family. I love you. XOXO-S
Public libraries are crazy underrated—one of those few remaining instiutions that make us feel like society at large supports and celebrates families.
Keep in mind many don't just have kid zones, but also play zones and lendable toys.
Love you, librarians!! You're amazing!
If you watch only one interview of Malcolm, watch this one. His conversation with
@JohnPapola
on Dad Saves America sums up our philosophy on culture wars, AI, truth, education, etc.
@Aella_Girl
Wish people knew how common it is to find rape arousing (and realized that arousal is NOT moral endorsement; it's just arousal).
When we researched this for The Pragmatist's Guide to Sexuality, we were genuinely surprised.
Happy Fourth! Cheers to a nation built by people bravely forging new paths in society, governance, and culture. 🇺🇸
Hope you're enjoying the day with the people you love.
We've learned quickly that the best kid activities involve just cutting them loose and letting them do their thing, and bad activities involve regimented, scheduled, structured activities.
Sad that most kid stuff these days = the latter.
The only real happiness and contentment you will ever feel comes from efficacious pursuit of your values. This is why those that chase happiness are those least likely to experience it.
Slaver ants steal the pupa from other ants’ nests and coat them in their pheromones to confuse the pupa into spending their entire adult life serving their captors. This is why almost all healthy cultures (those with stable fert rates) are wary of the US public school system.
We're asked why we want to raise our kids outside of mainstream culture (i.e. raise them “weird”). Do you think the predominant cultures are working? That people are fulfilled? Youth mental health is plummeting. Not dumping our kids into this system. 🧵
Books are for smart people in the same way chess is for smart people. Both are for people who confuse the aesthetic of intelligence in popular media with actually being smart.
We've got a c-section scheduled (kid
#3
!) for Friday, which brings up a sore point for us in pregnancy/newborn research: There are no long term studies on the neurological effects of epidurals which is a great example of how broken the academic bureaucracy is. 🧵
Whenever a story about our pronatalism goes viral, we get a lot of random one-sentence emails hating us. We wonder what percent of these are people who 1 actually hate what we are working toward, 2 are misinformed about our goals, 3 hate us (as humans). 🧵
Last week, my mom died and my brother had his third kid. People are reacting so much more to the death than the birth—and yet that kid has a century of potential life ahead and so much potential, whereas my mom already had most of her life and impact behind her.
