Sad that an outlet would frame this as unprofessional. Where should the kids be—at home with a stay-at-home parent? If we want to empower women & address plummeting birth rates, we must normalize kids in the office (and ideally offer in-house childcare!).

Lifting is to exercise as masturbation is to sex. We suspect if it were studied, we would see that lifting is deeply unhealthy contrasted with finding organic opportunities for manual labor. 🧵

Men's testosterone levels drop when they secure stable, committed partners and again when they have kids. When you see a jacked guy in his mid 30s, you’re looking at someone whose hormones are responding to a failure scenario (failure to secure a stable partner + reproduce). 🧵

It's remarkable how much society has lost its mind around this issue—that they would conflate a light slap meant to shock and reorient attention with ritualized punishment designed to hurt (something that should be taken very seriously).

Slapping kids is fine, and people should do it more. People horrified by this are liberals with genes that are high on conformity and don’t understand that some people’s children need this. Much respect to the Collinses for doing it in front of a journalist.

People who write about us online dunk on me (Simone) for being ugly. When you make fun of a woman for her looks and she is happily married to a man she respects with a lot of kids, you’re just pointing out that she beat you on a harder difficulty setting.

Sam Bankman-Fried perfected unadulterated hedonism. People forget that—more than food or fancy houses—being famous for being a good person and believing you are a good person is EXTREMELY pleasurable. SBF’s life & lifestyle were defined by a constant search for pleasure. 🧵 (1/8)

What nobody told us about parenting (but should have) is just how much we'd love our kids--not because they're "ours" or because they're cute, but because they're genuinely funny, insightful, surprising people who are fun to hang out with. Totally underrated parenting bonus.

We've always loved it when employees brought their kids to the office and we've been bringing our own kids to the office + business meetings since they were five days old. It's good for kids to be close with parents. This is how folks have worked for thousands of years.

At the end of a long day, we couldn't imagine looking at our kids and thinking: "Nah, I'd rather still look young and sexy" or "I'd rather be jet-setting around the world" (though we def worried about those tradeoffs pre kids). It's really tough to to model post-kid life.

We've learned quickly that the best kid activities involve just cutting them loose and letting them do their thing, and bad activities involve regimented, scheduled, structured activities. Sad that most kid stuff these days = the latter.

The only real happiness and contentment you will ever feel comes from efficacious pursuit of your values. This is why those that chase happiness are those least likely to experience it.

Slaver ants steal the pupa from other ants’ nests and coat them in their pheromones to confuse the pupa into spending their entire adult life serving their captors. This is why almost all healthy cultures (those with stable fert rates) are wary of the US public school system.

We're asked why we want to raise our kids outside of mainstream culture (i.e. raise them “weird”). Do you think the predominant cultures are working? That people are fulfilled? Youth mental health is plummeting. Not dumping our kids into this system. 🧵

Books are for smart people in the same way chess is for smart people. Both are for people who confuse the aesthetic of intelligence in popular media with actually being smart.

We've got a c-section scheduled (kid #3 !) for Friday, which brings up a sore point for us in pregnancy/newborn research: There are no long term studies on the neurological effects of epidurals which is a great example of how broken the academic bureaucracy is. 🧵

Whenever a story about our pronatalism goes viral, we get a lot of random one-sentence emails hating us. We wonder what percent of these are people who 1 actually hate what we are working toward, 2 are misinformed about our goals, 3 hate us (as humans). 🧵

Last week, my mom died and my brother had his third kid. People are reacting so much more to the death than the birth—and yet that kid has a century of potential life ahead and so much potential, whereas my mom already had most of her life and impact behind her.
