I believe it was the Chairman of the Board at Wednesdayโs Opera Colorado Season preview event who told me that the villain in Boheme is Mimiโs disease.
Wednesday evening's 25-26 season preview event at Opera Colorado was well-attended (300+?), cordial (retiring GM, continuing MD) & fun. No surprise, they cut the season to 2 productions for the usual budget issues that have challenged opera companies for more than 400 years. We chatted up a young couple at our table; nice to see younger audience members after 50 years of being the youngsters at most of these events.

@JacksonCHanson @bronzeagemantis I was sad for the tarantula, but in general we were spider-positive, especially when we had a big rose garden. Sorry about the brown recluse bite, way no fun. Did you know that spiders are the most common invertebrate humans encounter?

@CindyHoedel @FischerKing64 Our contact was central casting Vienna operetta. Not only hand-kissing & "Gnadige Frau" (Gracious Lady) but even a pocket watch! It was so fledermaus it took some effort to keep a straight face, but it was delightful.

@MitziFetch As usual with these complex family dramas, I lean on a trick I learned in childhood trying to figure out the War of the Roses (aka the Cousins' War)--find a family tree. This one helps sort out the generations & all those girl cousins.

@robkhenderson That depends on how one defines "winning the argument" It's true if one sincerely wants to persuade one's opponent. It's not true if it's a formal debate with a judge, or if one is merely demonstrating that your opponents arguments are stupid or that s/he is an idiot.
