If they are cancelling less than 24 hours in advance and it’s not a legit medical emergency or family emergency I charge the full session rate. which is more than 135. They understand the policy & adhere to it. Plus they get multiple appointment reminders ahead of the session.

I am a therapist and I dont agree it’s a reason to leave. I think clients should be informed of all this and it should be a discussion between the client and therapist before just leaving. These fees are common in most private practices.

Understandable. If your insurance covers your sessions and you don’t pay out of pocket. They def won’t cover that fee. But therapists charge for the session amount because the time is slotted for the client & its now too late to put someone else in that spot.

The rate per session that an insurance company will approve to pay varies for each insurance provider. But they surely do pay that much or more in some cases. They are just a hassle to work with which is why many therapists don’t accept insurance.

Despite the fact that someone has an anxious attachment style, the lack of communication is poor communication. Even if some1 didn’t have an anxious attachment style the level of switch up/no communication should be a red flag & might cause some mild anxiety.

They don’t get paid for that no-show or late cancel. Therapist are rarely paid on a salary structure. It is per session.

It depends on the “emergency” some people categorize certain things as emergencies that aren’t actual emergencies. They are just things that have come up last minute. Agencies don’t often charge or have a small fee. Private practices are typically different.
