Amidst all the madness, today my sisters and I stumbled into an incredible black owned chocolate shop in Greenwich.
Perfect for a coffee date or catchup!
This lovely brother is one of the owners. Check out Dark Sugars on Nelson Road SE10🙌🏾❤️
After Lee Rigby died, EDL protested in Woolwich. I was in secondary school squaring up to big men. Children were in tears in the streets. Truly one of my most awful memories. Even in our most diverse constituencies there is a STRONG underbelly
Youth work/community work is not glamorous - I promise you. The hours are unsocial, the pay is shit and the emotional toil can be horrendous but our communities only function because there are those who are prepared to do it.
MUM I MADE IT! 🤩
It was truly amazing writing this poem for a short film & advert with
@TheBodyShopUK
and
@Channel4
, discussing youth homelessness in the UK.
Working alongside Jamie and

was everything 😭❤️

Hey guys, I wrote an article about the new BLM inscription in Woolwich, thinking about what Black Lives Matter means on a local level.
Would love if you could read it and let me know your thoughts💓

So I never thought working with little ones was my bag. But yesterday, I started working with some year 5’s from my old primary school on a new poetry club I’m going to be running and I think it was the happiest I’ve felt all year😭
2021 was the year of hella commissions. Last night I stepped on the mic for the first time in a hot sec. Pure vibes with the amazing Queenstown collective.
Have a listen & share👑
More to come this year 💗💗💗
Un fun fact: I have epilepsy
This week is National Epilepsy Awareness Week, and I wanted to take a moment to bust some common myths about the condition.
I hope you learn something! Share and feel free to hit me up with any questions!

James Hemings, brother to Sally Hemings was the first American to train as a chef in France. He was enslaved by Thomas Jefferson at 8.
The Chef de cuisine is the reason macaroni and cheese made it to America.

I’m looking to speak to young black people who have left black majority churches (BMCs) due to their failure to engage with important social issues e.g white supremacy, patriarchy, homophobia, transphobia, capitalism, imperialism, ableism etc
Yesterday we were awarded with a 5* hygiene rating from our local authority😌

Hey! So I am currently researching for my dissertation. The project will be looking at Black Women, Carnival, Fashion + Resistance. I need black women who attend Carnival to complete my survey. It would be a massive help. Please share❤️
'Black on black crime' is a falsification, bastardisation and gross oversimplification of the consequences of economic deprivation in attempt to construct black people as pathologically corrupt
Had the best time hosting a conversation and Q&A with the amazing beautiful authors of

Women soooo often do the WORK in our communities. Seeing need/gaps for our people, cultivating provision and care!meanwhile navigating our own marginalisation! WHERE ARE THE MEN?????
I can’t even lie, I’m so proud of myself. The L’s I’ve taken in the last 8 months. The fact I’m here and still moving. Bwoy, the ancestors are interceding.
It can’t be a matter of only plugging certain groups at times of tragedy. Organisations need ongoing support. Find organisations that you can actually routinely support, donate and advocate for.
The 1st ever black woman to win the Booker Prize. A queen straight from Woolwich. We have to STAN. One of the most amazing people I’ve ever had the privilege of spending time with❤️🙌🏾😭
There were TWO
@TheBookerPrizes
winners this year! Congratulations Margaret Atwood, but ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, please give it up for British-Nigerian, Bernadine Evaristo - the first Black woman to win the prize since it began in 1969.

"I vividly recall women I admired being tossed into disrepute for falling victim to the worst possible sin of the flesh, whilst their ‘accomplices’ got off with incomparable clemency."
What church taught us about sex & our sexuality

@Sheedamelesse
Being a girl/woman forces us into a state of hyper vigilance. The weathering/deteriorating impact of this psychologically and physiologically robs us of so much

A space for support, knowledge sharing and care💜
Also looking to connect with Black women neurologists!
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but organise that dinner date with those people that make your heart smile! All that, “we haven’t seen in each other in months” really doesn’t always have to be the case!
I’m appreciating this scene in Beef with Danny entering church and tearing up during praise and worship. Feel like I haven’t seen this depicted before so authentically
Crying my eyes out listening to my best friend

My old workplace did an activity where they asked us to send a pic from our weekend. They cut out team members faces and we were meant to guess whose pic it was.
Mine was the only one with blacks. Why this girl say it just look like it had a ‘Woolwich vibe to it’😂🌚
So I've had the best 24 hours seeing two of my Queens in action. My amazing talented friend of 16 years performed her own original music at 02 Academy Islington. & today my big sister did her own tour at the British Library exploring Windrush, community and sound. I'm in awe ❤
This year I'm a judge for the

I know we make jokes about these ‘churches’ trying to recruit freshers on uni campuses. But seriously, I think it’s important to discuss the red flags our young people should look out for from potentially coercive churches or religious groups. In your experience what are they?

I understand the emphasis on incel/red pill discourse (which is of course significant) but I fear that emphasis lets other men off the hook. This is symptomatic of the entire culture
Today I had the most beautiful little boy in one of my poetry workshops. He had cerebral palsy and struggled to communicate verbally, but we worked together slowly and patiently and honestly I know it will go down as one of my top memories working with with a young person 🥹
Big up my people dem that are out here completing degrees that are taking them longer than anticipated. Balancing jobs/carer responsibilities/trying to make this bread/preserve your mental health/stay physically healthy + simultaneously trying to bang grades - it’s not easy sha
