Found this endangered Hawaiian monk seal sleeping on the beach in Kauai.
They are one of the most endangered seal species in the world and endemic to the Hawaiian islands.
They eat fishes, squids, octopuses, eels, and crustaceans (crabs, shrimps, and lobsters).
Pretty cool. 🦭

This hatchling was rescued before Hurricane Isaias made landfall in August 2020. The storm surge made it hard for the baby turtles to get past the rough surf. Hatchlings were released once the storm passed.

That’s awesome. Saw crawlers ledge from a boat, there was a small group going very slowly across on a gusty day. Easy to see how it got the name. Definitely hope to do it sometime.
