@journalsentinel Arab states have been trying to rename the Persian gulf the Arabian gulf for decades. Itโs going great for them. Couple centuries from now it might finally catch on with the rest of the world.

@ZeynabDay @mattyglesias This. I feel like the whole โweโre the smart, educated partyโ falls flat when you canโt even learn from your own mistakesโฆ

@RyanPKirlin I read this as 1/2 way through the year at first and was like damn man I know a lot has happened & time has lost all meaning but this feels extremeโฆ (This is what happens when you start the year on a boat in the middle of nowhereโฆ)

@Philip97190457 @Jodiannoyed @Andie00471 "She supported the genocide but she didn't say stupid shit in public" isn't quite the flex that you think it is.

@ScottDavid2020 @Andie00471 @RichSpence10 So they should have voted for the other candidate who also supported genocide?

@ConstanceHunter @callieabost @DaveNadig @TheStalwart @mckonomy @SamuelRines I know there are complicated reasons for all of this but it just seems like it should be much easier to figure out whether the Fed lists 700 million barrels of crude oil among its assets ๐

That's not at all true. Murphy responded to a press conference Trump gave, in which he said the US would size Gaza + reiterated a call to ethnically cleanse gaza (which he's been making for 10+ days) to say, essentially: we aren't taking over gaza so if you spend time getting upset about it you'll miss the more important stuff like oligarchy. My comment was that was a shitty take. Trump and Bibi have both been steadily pushing to ethnically cleanse Gaza, with some success. That part is not bluster. And to suggest Americans dismiss the entire press conference as a distraction is to gloss over very real threats because of a crazy headline...

@49Stina @Andie00471 @RichSpence10 there were pro-palestine protests outside the RNC... I can only speak for myself but i've protested US policy in Palestine for 15 years regardless of who's in office.

@ScottDavid2020 @Andie00471 @RichSpence10 When it comes to "does this candidate support genocide" it was not a binary choice. Both candidates supported it.

@tuggerdogrules @ChrisMurphyCT I did nothing of the sort. I responded to the text of a specific tweet that I find dangerous. I like Chris Murphy, he voted to put conditions on aid to Israel. I'm not forming an opinion on him as a politiican based on a bad tweet.

@bearyphan @hustledetector There's multiple instances of this. There's refusing (repeatedly) to meet with various groups. There's this:

The Israeli government said: We are going to ethnically cleanse northern gaza (the general's plan)โthey said this prior to the election. Kamala was repeatedly asked during the campaign if she would put conditions on aid to Israel and she said noโshe would continue to supply the Israeli government with weapons without conditions. (In other words: She would supply them with the weapons to enact their outlined plan of ethnic cleansing.)r Both candidates vowed to use American dollars and weapons to enable Israel to carry out a campaign of ethnic cleansing. For most voters, Kamala had other benefits that made her a better choice. I'm not denying that. If you are Arab or Palestinian and this is your family, there wasn't much difference. Hope that helps.

I own none of thisโI live in a blue state, my vote didn't matter. I voted in a primary, wrote reps, and protested. I tried to push the Democratic party to adopt a policy that 80% of Democrats support. In fact, I live in Chicago. Harris came here and quite literally told us to shut upโDemocratic reps plugged their ears. I have protested American government policy as an American. Regardless of who is in office. You're completely entitled to your opinion, and you make plenty of valid points even if I don't disagree with them. Still, "Enjoy your genocide" will never NOT be a callous and shitty thing to say. Victim blaming will never be the right thing.
