The status quo might be cheaper, but the future is poverty if the usa does not lead the charge on trade balance, domestic industry, and border security. If Trump fails the first to go will be the third world after citizens in developed countries can no longer afford to buy imports due to under employment. Next third world citizens will flee to the developed world in mass destroying all that remains. We need to continuously modulate trade balance and develop the third world. I see no other options. Yes it will be expensive, but opportunities will emerge that more than offset these cost.
