As a senior resident, my class created a standard email we sent out weekly to the rotating students with everything they needed to know. From room codes to common questions to expect in the OR. Even an anatomy video. We'd attach reading for the learning topic that week.

Definitely had a pt see docs for months for abdominal pain & not feeling well. Finally found out she was pregnant at maybe 32weeks & it was a fetal demise. 1st pregnancy, too. I felt so bad for her & was shocked nobody did a pregnancy test.

Years ago, I had to perform a D&E on a pt who had HELLP @ a previable gestation. It was a heartbreaking situation & I remember sitting in my car & crying before going home. Ending a life to save a life. She had quickly decompensated while they were trying to decide what to do 1/

I remember having to sign an order for them not to be shackled during their admission or the guards would not take the cuffs off. A patient did try to escape once but they weren't in labor & the unit was very locked down at baseline.
