In case you missed it, we officially launched the @bebetterleaders community for coaches and ADs on Monday. We've been working on it for months. All geared around helping coaches be their best and maximize their leadership and performance. It's the first version of our small solution to fix what we have identified in conversations with hundreds of coaches at all levels as one of the most significant pain points in coaching. Doing it alone. We already have 60 leaders who have joined. See if this is for you.

We've seen expensive rosters in NCAA fail. Resources still aren't a guarantee for success. Do they matter? No question. But it's not all that matters. Culture is still the differentiator.

Ideas are cheap. There are thousands of ideas under the sun of things you could do. None of them matter. None matter unless you can live them out and build an environment where those ideas are practiced. Ideas aren't what win. Systems that build culture do.

If I'm hiring a coach, I'm hiring a culture builder. They're easy to cheer for, to rally a community around. Every coach knows the game, but can they connect, communicate a clear vision, develop people well, and multiply their leadership? Culture is the competitive advantage.

Don't burden yourself with expectations in performance. Every performance is a chance to learn. Believe in who you can be. But know you're not there yet. You’ll stumble, but keep going. Progress and consistency wins.

Facilities may get the players in the door. But it sure doesn't keep them there. It becomes normal. They get used to it. Their community and connection to their coaches and teammates keep players at a school.

There is no learning you can do in coaching that is superior to learning about yourself as a leader.

We need to stop seeing only our games as the primary tool to teach young people. And we need to think of ourselves that way. It's not just the game. It's you and your leadership.

Coaches feel a need to turn everything into a lesson. But, what teaches your players more than anything isn't any lesson you teach them, it's the person you are. How you operate. How you treat people. The leader you are. Focus less on lessons. Focus more on yourself.

What impacts your coaching the most isn't a grand idea, new information, or the scheme you run. It's small, consistent actions. We don't need more master tacticians. We need more coaches who aim to learn more about themselves and how to lead themselves better.

Finding your purpose is so much more than just why you coach. It creates a roadmap. What can you draw out in your players that others can't because they aren't you? You are unique. You have something unique to offer your players. Move them towards their potential.
