Eli Birdwell reported for duty yesterday at 7:14 p.m. to his father Matt (our son) and mother Ann Marie. At 9lb 13oz and 21.5 inches, he is a healthy and happy gift from God. Mel and I are incredibly proud grandparents and pretty darn proud of our son and daughter-in-law, too!

Today, I was able to present a resolution on the Senate floor for the Texas Rangers’ 200th anniversary. The Texas Rangers are the oldest state law enforcement agency in the US, founded on Feb. 13th, 1823. It was honor to get to recognize them for their bicentennial celebration.
