As Chair of Business and Commerce, I opposed allowing regulated energy companies from owning generation, because the risk and cost simply got pushed to consumers. Unfortunately, the legislation passed allowing the purchase the next session.
CenterPoint should not buy more generators. Customers should be reimbursed for the $50 million in profits & $800 million spent on "mobile" generators the utility couldn't use. To charge ratepayers even more for generators adds insult to injury. #txlege .
