In my latest quarterly column for @VoyagesAfriq magazine, I explore regulatory history of crossborder ownership of African airlines & benefits accruing to nations ready to stop subsidy for failed national airlines ad infinitum & liberalise their skies.

@yashendra2797 @LiveFromALounge I would love for airlines to transparently have the option to offer that business model and then the market to decide if they find that value proposition compelling.

@yashendra2797 @LiveFromALounge DGCA protects consumers from truly low fares. Compliance should never have to be a cost line item.

@Kenu73 Yes. For now the cyber cell cops have said to leave it with them to work with the bank for a while to investigate. Ridiculous how badly the bank is treating a senior citizen, especially in contrast to the police who couldn't have been more helpful.

@CricAspect I think Vidarbha is being carried a bit by Karun right now. Their first innings against both Hyderabad and Rajasthan was quite dire. If Karun fails, inevitably their batting lineup is vulnerable. They cannot match Mumbai's depth where 8th and 9th wicker is most dangerous 🤣

@KaptainPetrovs @analyticflying @LalluPilot @Naman_21_ @sjlazars @TIAG747 @vishal1mehra @APAmaravati @Rochanaldo3 @AviationAll_ @CrikFan45 Once you generate enough traffic to fill a 120 seater, the logical progression is to replace the 120 seater with a 180 seater. And so you wind up outgrowing the market you just developed.

@LalluPilot @analyticflying @KaptainPetrovs @Naman_21_ @sjlazars @TIAG747 @vishal1mehra @APAmaravati @Rochanaldo3 @AviationAll_ @CrikFan45 Well, Star Air has already shown the willingness and ability to upguage into markets that require additional capacity and capability. Indigo will have bigger fish to fry with their wide-bodies. Shivamogga and Nanded versus San Francisco and New York 🤣

@LalluPilot @analyticflying @KaptainPetrovs @Naman_21_ @sjlazars @TIAG747 @vishal1mehra @APAmaravati @Rochanaldo3 @AviationAll_ @CrikFan45 The economics of RJ vs ATR are complex on short haul missions. The ATR has cheaper unit direct operating costs, but a well utilized RJ has lower unit ownership costs. Either could be the better choice depending on the specifics of the situation.

@analyticflying @LalluPilot @sjlazars @Naman_21_ @KaptainPetrovs @TIAG747 @vishal1mehra @APAmaravati @Rochanaldo3 Not just leased but on very attractive sale-leaseback terms given what price Vinay originally locked in the orphaned airframes at. So every delivery so far has basically unlocked cash as well, although that stops/reduces with their dedicated new builds.

@analyticflying @KaptainPetrovs @LalluPilot @Naman_21_ @sjlazars @TIAG747 @vishal1mehra @APAmaravati @Rochanaldo3 @AviationAll_ @CrikFan45 It would be a conscious decision to move into what is essentially a higher CASK operating model, connecting city pairs too far apart for ATRs and too small for A320s. The problem is that success with this model means outgrowing it, which is why its viability is marginal at best.

@analyticflying @KaptainPetrovs @LalluPilot @Naman_21_ @sjlazars @TIAG747 @vishal1mehra @APAmaravati @Rochanaldo3 @AviationAll_ @CrikFan45 The real benefits the A220/E2 brings over an ATR is capacity, speed (ie. higher utility) and range. Given 6E's current network structure and Indian geography in general there is a marginal business case at best, depending on the ownership costs.

@analyticflying @KaptainPetrovs @LalluPilot And also depends on the config. ET has relatively low density Max 8s and fly routes as far as Dhaka and Abidjan from Addis Ababa on a regular basis.

@OntheRoadAJ They would not be deported because one has to be granted entry in order to be deported. Their case would simply be a refusal/removal which has no permanent derogatory impact in SIS. No different than being in transit at a Schengen airport when your flight is cancelled 🤣

@jagritichandra Fault of the individual crew as well. Don't they have to affirm they have a valid CMC (and passport , etc..) every time they sign in for any flight duty?
