This was some of the best looking wheat in the area coming out of dormancy. 80-100 bushel yield potential. This is what it looks like after no moisture in 8 weeks. Will be a lot more that looks like this end of the week when we miss the rain again
Proud of my daughter! League Champion for the 2nd year in a row in the High Jump. Runner up in the triple jump and 400M. Her Medley relay team was league champion and broke the meet record as well.
Would like some honest input from some weather guys. What is causing us in Central and Western Kansas to continue missing these rains? I realize drought breeds drought, but our current weather pattern is so frustrating. Been this way for 4-5 years now. Is this the new norm?
4 members of Little River's State Championship football team leading the student section tonight for Little River in first round state basketball action vs Clifton Clyde.
Proud of our girl! After a big game opening round, she struggled to shoot it the last two rounds. She stayed aggressive and played great defense, and affected the game in other ways. Congrats AJ on making the All Tournament team.
Arika got the opportunity to play with Wheat State Elite Malm 17U at Mountain Madness US Jr Nationals in Denver. She had a great weekend and they beat some tough teams to win their pool.
It is so frustrating summer after summer, to fight mud at planting, fight mud at wheat harvest, and the day wheat harvest is over the rain shuts off and you get to watch your row crop burn up. Does it every year.
The kids had a great weekend to end their summer basketball schedule. Both teams 5-0 and Kade's team Salina tournament Champs, and Arika's Wichita tournemt Champs!

Rust definitely can limit yield. But when max yield potential is 15-20 bushel to begin with, there is zero reason to dump more money into a losing situation

@KSHSAA
Some states make private schools play up one or two classifications from what they are classified as. That's what needs to happen in Kansas
Had a great week at the

camp! I was honored to be named Camp MVP! Thank you Coach Kahrs and Coach
@PaigeLunsford
. Look forward to visiting again soon!

I don't grow much corn. But years ago, I was on last field, and knew I wouldn't have enough starter to finish field, so I turned starter off every other pass on last 1/3 of field. Corn was a foot shorter and pale all summer. Monitor showed zero yield difference.
@ksufearless
Some say 100, some say 90. We usually mark 95 days out on the calendar. It's more accurate than any weather forecast. Will usually be some type of moisture ranging from another foggy day, to rain or snow within a few days one way or the other from 95.

Find a crop insurance agent that is well versed in ARC/PLC elections that knows how to use them with SCO/ECO. They can help you to make the right decision for each individual farm
@holtjosh00
I never met Brad, but talked to him on the phone a few times and through some different AG groups. Was one of those guys you could just tell was genuine person. When I heard the news this morning, it was one of those instances where it just made you hurt inside.
Another forecast nailed. 2nd week in a row with 2-3" of rain forecast, and we get nothing. Today was 70% chance of severe storms, and nothing within 100 miles in any direction
@sportsinkansas
Half the teams that made it to state will not get to experience what it truly feels like to play in State Basketball setting at a neutral venue. Also a number of teams that would be in semi finals instead of going home early if brackets were seeded like they should have been.
2011 Kinze 16/31 planter. Bean and corn meters have low acres on rebuild, new main frame tires last year. Sprockets, chains, and all shaft bearings were replaced 3 seasons ago. Kinze KPM3 monitor, poly box extensions, 16 corn meters, bean and Milo plates. $51000 obo

If the NCAA approves a RS for someone who played in 5 games, they better be ready to grant one to Will Howard and every other player who played in 5 games this season
@BrianBledsoe
Doesn't look any different than any of the forecasts we've had the last 4 years. I'm to the point until I see it rain, I believe we won't get any rain.
@BEisenhart
Where a kid is at in grade school means nothing to what type of player they will be when they are in high school. It's all about when a kid hits when they mature. Have seen a number of kids who were the star when they were in grade school, and can't get on the floor in HS.
We left this plot stand through the moisture we were supposed to get last week, to check which varieties will stand well. We gott sleet, snow, rain, and a lot of wind on milo that had been killed by a freeze. Great standibility info was gathered and yields look great!
I woke up in a good mood today knowing I get to see
@ohlde_24
and
@SeanFeldman5
to take out a Sorghum plot here in Lyons, KS. Yields are coming in awesome and we’re very enthusiastic about cutting experimental’s in here as well.

In our county, 4-H has always been a popularity contest. The livestock shows were always won by the people whose parents or grandparents bought them high dollar show cattle. Some kids worked hard, but many had never handled their animals until the show. Parents did the work
The athletic ability on display in the NCAA tournament is unreal. But fundamentals and basketball IQ have really went backwards. The new wave of drive and kick basketball has lead to more charges than I have seen in my entire life. No one knows how to jump stop anymore.
Super proud of Arika!! She wrapped up her first season of track as Wheat State League Champ in High Jump, 400M, and 4x200 relay. Her 7th Grade Girls were also Wheat State League Champs as a team!
