1. you can say no.
there is a lot of free work. pitches. issues. and sometimes it feels fun and good to do. and sometimes it does not. you can say no, its ok.

the artist is the most important part of the reader's experience. the reader will literally receive their interpretation of your words.ask what they like to draw, worlds they want to be in. SAY YES more. you'll get cooler worlds.

for real. you want a CAREER? not just a single book on the shelf.... assume your first book is not gonna set the world on fire. bodies of work create careers. so learn to juggle. you'll have to do that at some point anyway.

6 months ago, thinking my son might have cancer and not being able to get a biopsy because of COVID, the reality of today did not seem possible. To have him healthy and talking anything comics is amazing. so, thanks for reading, no matter what. the books do get us through things.

what do you want to make? are you more Daniel Clowes than Daniel Warren Johnson? Then embrace that. Aim for artists that bring that out in your work. Aim for publishers who understand what you do.

I’m sad that this is the last of Sean Lewis’s Spawn titles. Sean brought such a unique and exciting dynamic to the Spawn Universe, and I feel that he is a major reason these titles performed as well as they did. It won’t be the same going forward, but we got some amazing stories
