We are excited to share our new work out today in @NatureCellBio uncovering a new Achilles heel of pancreatic cancer. Myc is a key driver of PDAC and predicts poor survival. Thus, we asked the question of how Myc protein levels are regulated in PDAC. 👉 🎉

Critically, as part of a fantastic collaborative effort with @rushika_perera’s group, we show that RBM42 is required for PDAC tumorigenesis through its regulation of Myc, which is also supported by studies in human PDAC tissues.

Using a new translational reporter system combined with CRISPRi, we identify a rich translational regulatory network for MYC. RBM42, an RNA binding protein, jumped out to us as an exciting new target that we found regulates Myc mRNA translation and is necessary for PDAC growth.

Davide Ruggero characterized the structure of Myv 5’UTR and a key RNA binding protein that regulates its translation level by interacting with specific structural motifs. Cool work
