Amazing work from @TravisFaust2 in my lab @UMassChan @UMassNeuro @NeurobioUMass. Very proud of this work. Also thanks to fantastic collaborators Anne Schaefer, Pinar Ayata, Cagla Eroglu, and colleagues.
Thrilled to share our new paper in @CellCellPress: “Microglia–astrocyte crosstalk regulates synapse remodeling via Wnt signaling” This work demonstrates the necessity of glia–glia communication and cooperation. https://t.co/roG9LUmrkp Faust et al., Cell 2025 #Neuroscience #Glia

My apologies for the delay in posting. A terrific effort from @jacobmstillman and @KiniwaT1023 in the lab. A review on nucleic acid sensing in the brain. https://t.co/Jc25yS80ic

Nucleic acids are a critical trigger for the innate immune response to infection, wherein pathogen-derived RNA and DNA are sensed by nucleic acid sensing receptors. This subsequently drives the...

Amazing mentors are key to success. @MattRasband is one of the very best!
I am mostly silent on Twitter. But today I must post something: I met with three amazing and incredible women scientists I had the privilege of mentoring as PhD students in my lab. Dori Schafer, Shelly Buffington, and Tammy Ho. They helped make me who I am.

As much as I love microglia and they play clear roles in the removal of synapses in multiple contexts, they are not the sole driver of synapse remodeling. Lots of neuron intrinsic mechanisms and other glia are involved too. Very important to recognize.

I wanted to further echo @eyolab enthusiasm for this work that is nicely complementary to @stevens1lab work that C1q does not regulate OD plasticity in the same brain region. Both studies here: https://t.co/S3Y6o0X9n2
