Did we always pity ‘banks of Mum & Dad’ or is it only in late stage capitalism that older generations seem to commodify & resent bonding with grand kids/supporting their families? The luxury & lottery of having stable parents is heavily overlooked here.

Western Australian MP Ben Dawkins has legally changed his name to "Aussie Trump", which is now shown on the state parliament website Trump posted a document showing his new name as "Austin Letts Trump" He currently serves in the Legislative Council as an independent, having briefly been a One Nation member in 2024

@emma__jayne14 No I get ya, there have also been far too many of those childcare centre incidents where the kids somehow get out, or a car smashes through them. Ugh. Terrible

@ash_craig I reckon the cost would be pretty low and easily absorbed. But child seat manufacturers could also put a weight detection device in the seat that triggers an alarm or SMS to a phone even. Those damn seats are an investment anyway, I’ve had to buy 6 already 🫠

@emma__jayne14 I think a few of these cases have been a kind of highway hypnosis, auto pilot type thing coupled with lack of sleep and distraction. I’ve got young kids so I get the exhaustion. Very sad for the family.

@ash_craig I’m learning this just now, should be mandatory. Doesn’t seem like expensive technology. Seems more important than seat warmers and massive American sized cup holders.
