Moments ago, APD’s Fugitive Unit was able to track down a perpetrator involved in a shooting. As they entered Sandy Springs, they requested our assistance and our Officers responded. While in the area of GA-400 South near Hammond Drive, our Officers attempted to stop the fugitive

A SSPD Officer heard something crying in the bushes behind our HQ. As he continued to investigate, he found a crying baby squirrel that had fallen from its nest. The Officer rescued the baby squirrel and nursed it for a few days until he found a wild life reserve organization.

***KITTEN CASE UPDATE*** After two months that consisted of interviewing witnesses, reviewing street cameras, and obtaining a court order from a Judge, Officer Housand was able to identify the driver suspected of throwing the kittens out from a moving vehicle.

So far this year, we have had 73 guns stolen from vehicles in Sandy Springs. This is extremely concerning as we know these stolen firearms are used to commit additional violent crimes (robberies, homicides, shootings, home invasions, etc.). Don't leave valuables in plain view.
