4-2-2 at Yokohama Worlds 2023. Didn't have the energy in me to close out enough games. Tried a bunch of stuff leading up to the event, but ended on pure counterbox. Not unhappy with the list, would maybe change 1 card or so. Was a rough day, thanks to everyone for the support.

10-3-2, top32 with Penny Control box at EUIC. Penny is great, Cyl/Cheer/Pad isn't quite Lusamine but they try. Engine is unfocused because can't go Kirlia vs Sable (use Rotom/Ninja+efficient drawsupps instead), but Kirlia is too amazing for draw/filter into every other matchup.

Top32 spe. Indeedee is the leanest attacker that control can run. It can A) KO Snorlax in LZ.B) KO non-ex/v pokemon, so that safeguard Mimikyu goes unchecked. Played Tsareena/Au Lait/4 Charm (+Eleki/Penny/PalPad) over Espeon for Sable. Extra Yveltal+Sidney solidified Lugia&Mew.

12th Lille regional. Rotomless Snorlax. Prizemap gets much more difficult for oppo without Rotom + going 6 Snorlax allows you to beat decks with ~4 switching outs. Engine becomes contentious without Instant Charge, think this is the best way. But it's just a Lax deck in the end.

Tricky matchup in top8, very WP by Mateusz. Wanted to play something new for the last tourney of the year, so we build this in 1.5 days. Gengar prob one of the strongest partners for Mew2. if the VUnion can't get OHKO'd. Thanks to those who helped with the deckconstruction.

Top16 Birmingham. Alaka makes Kyurem lock way, way stronger and moves damage off Drifblim/ST. Tauros+Devo is overteching for Zard, which was a good metacall. Toed&Milotic were both great. Trolley enables them, and it's the highest value ace in the most vulnerable part of the game

Top8 Liverpool. Have gotten to top8 in all three of my tournaments this format, yet unable to convert it a little futher. List this time was slightly messy, so still glad with how well the run went. Lot of matches got to weird situations and came down to slim margins. Ggs all.

Stonjourner at Worlds day2. Finished with a very mediocre 3-3-2. Played my own version build around Cyllene/Hyper Potion/Training Court to loop while getting extra Stone Gifts heal. One Hyper Potion offers 360 healing, while slowly stacking stacking Stones/FFG for -100 reduction.

Was looking at post-ro lists, came across this one that has some interesting ideas. A HeroCape'd Zard, backed by Iono&Penny, into Luxray+Crisis Punch really pushes the potential for the reverse sweep planB. Daisy+ArcPhone replacing Peonia to nullify prizing issues to some extend.

Parsing through cards, Root Fossil is an interesting option to wall out the new Poison deck. Maybe the first time the 'no special conditions' clause on fossils is this relevant. With a bit of (recurable) spe energy removal it's quite tough to get through for Klawf or Terapagos.

New version of Mew2 that I've been liking. More focus on the non-Mew2 gameplan of trapping/war of attrition. Having Mew2 + Rox/Yell Horn as finisher & for certain MUs. Would've ran something in this direction at upcoming regionals. Didn't get a ticket for Lille so not playing.

Counter Catcher reprint is huge. Such a quality card to have access to. I was hoping for the likes of N and Counter Catcher returning in order for control to be valid when they announced 'comeback mechanics' in Scarlet&Violet, and now we've got them.

Kinda interesting way to use Vaporeon's Bubble Pod is getting back and charging the new Golduck over and over. Then using it to chip away at your opponent's resources. Ofc Vaporeon can stay alive with Cheryls. Water has some potentially useful tech includes to Bubble Pod for too.

Very creative way to use Grand Tree/Relicant/Croconaw's hit 'n run attack on Feraligatr to both hit hard, promote Mimikyu and enable self damage for Munkidori. Can even buy time through retreat lock to spread more with Munki. Love it when deckbuilding flows so smoohtly together.

Another small option that I find interesting is Zubat as an Emergency Board user. Ínformation is valuable for timing any reactive disruption card well. Intel also directly increases the effectiveness of Erika, Eri, Iono, LuxrayV. Throwback to David's Gumshoos and Caleb's Lavender

Bouf's been a bit underrated disruption card. How valuable the Lost Zoning truely is scales up with the strenght of energy recovery cards: lower raw energy counts + higher energy recovery trainers in decks favor Bouf. The printing of Super Rod has positively impacted the buffalo.

Alright, here's a simple lategame Eldegoss/DTE loop I found. With Badge on Umbreon and any 0 retreat VMax, you get 2x healing from Cheryl, which gives you the time to weave in Bird Keeper. This'll net the switching and draw required to loop continuously. Some more ideas as well:

9-5-1 euic. Played Pidg control with 2-2 Liepard. Happy with the list, played mediocre in MUs that I hadn't practised at all which rightfully cost me. Was honestly so fun to play again. Control is good rn, with varied counters to it+counters-to-counters to keep things interesting.

One of the most interesting cards to me from LOR. Goodra's ability to grand Safeguard to any basic is quite powerful and versatile, tho maybe as a stage2 it'll still fall short. Lots of cards become great with the protection. Eg Luxray is sweet to 'protect' Goodra by sniping Boss

Very benchspace intensive, and not an unbreakable lock by any means. Still, Ting-Lu being able to fully ability lock Gardevoir (both draw&energy accel) etc is interesting. Combined with Iono/Penny, could maybe lead to a slower control style Ting-Lu variant.

Could see Luminous Energy help to unlock the potential of some niche control attackers. Requiring a specific energy type to be played & found at the right time is a huge drawback for attacks that are so distinctively situational. A good Rainbow makes these way easier to integrate

Going to start testing some BRS irl in earnest this weekend. Baseline list thus far. Really enjoy Galarian Meowth with Bibarel/Snorlax. Keeping it unevolved for a couple turns offers a ton of filtering and dig. From that point the techs and disruption have to pull their weight.

Top8 in LOS Major. Had a great time playing and streaming the event!. The format both has intricate combos & interactions, and complete blowouts. Expanded deckbuilding options are a goldmine, meanwhile games can abruptly end in silly ways. This deck kinda embodies that perfectly.

5-2-2 Bremen. Wasn't on top of my game, would've had a shot in the ties with tighter play so can learn from that. Also running a bit dry on inspiration for this format. Control is a bit too weak to tackle a varied meta. Turbo cycle with Bib/Meowth into Eldegoss loop was fun tho.

Control is pretty good right now, not just the pure Snorlax build but other decks aswell. Fwiw Tomb is fine against most lists since Rotom offers most of the early game draw. Less narrow than Minior/Sandshrew. Penny/Turo/Jet ofc also solid. I can't play LAIC since I couldn't reg.
Stall might be in the best place it has been in a long time and everyone is excited to see what Sander brings to LAIC (besides his opponents) but good players can play their way out of stall situations because Pokemon has really eliminated anyway of perfectly locking the opponent.

Eldegoss+Team Yell Cheer/Bird Keeper is basically Lusamine back. Took me a while to realize how potent it is and how much it opens up certain supporters and walls. Definitely prefer it over Floatzel. Probably a lot more possibilities with it too.

Btw, there's a gameplan vs LZB with 4Yveltal that I feel like most miss. You can loop between Caped Eldegoss (letting it stay in play to soak a hit) and Caped Greedent/Pidgeot (if no Raikou). I didn't attack with Eiscue once during LAIC, and instead beat LZB with that instead.

Top4 in the Sunday Open with Energy Denial Centi. Had the idea for a while, threw the list together this morning so it could use some refining. Radiating Heat through the midgame while healing, then sweeping with 2shots late. Matched up pretty nicely against this particular meta.

Updated 2 control lists with new cards from Celebrations. Dialga is a slight upgrade for both, being able to win the stadium war via Backflow is crucial to either deck. Mew makes it both easier to set up and find early game tempo denying disruption, been pretty impressed by it.

Don't know why I didn't realise earlier, Eldegoss V with Double Turbo Energy is an amazing engine to generate infinite supporters. Any VMax with free retreat (such as Corviknight) can keep pivoting into it, while using Happy Match for an endless supply of Cheryls/anything else.

Not attending Malmö&Turin. Control remains in a tricky spot this format. It isn't truely 'powerful', but definitely has out-of-the-box answers to almost all high tier decks. Fitting the right ones together in a functional 60 is a tall order. Diverse meta doesn't simplify matters.

This is what I played for the Players Cup events. Excadrill beatdown. Chasing Dedenne/Crobats and having a decent meta position were the main wincons. I think I took more prizes in the last week playing this than in the previous 3 years.

Deck has been surprisingly fun. Carrier, Raihan and Peonia give it the firepower required to prizetrade with the 2 prizers and VMaxes of the format. Barraskewda without Mew around is a functional finisher. RS and Pult do keep it down in the meta, other matchups are somehow fine.

Significantly better than Azumarill, Morpeko, Dialga, Slurpuff and Smeargle. As a stage1 still leagues behind Junk Hunt Sableye's level. Feel like they are cautiously trying to slowly improve control, without giving it anything obnoxiously oppressive. Kinda like that approach.
