There is no agreement between Zim and SA that South Africa must supply medical treatment to Zimbabweans. Medical Treatment Visas issued ito s17 of the Immigration Act, 2002 are required and it is a serious contravention of ss49(4) of the same act to help undocumented immigrants.

Unacceptable emotional blackmail. It was their free choice to stay on in SA after their visas expired. They knew very well from day 1 that ZEP that it was a temporarily arrangement. Some/many have a false expectation to force permanent residence through judicial overreach.

SA cannot document undocumented immigrants that entered SA illegally. They must get their travel documents from their home countries. Visas can be issued by SA only for documented applicants. Those that don't qualify for the range of visas in the Immigration Act, 2002 must leave.
This is a welcome policy shift by the Democratic Alliance, which would be beneficial to both the migrants and South Africa.

Zim parents making a living and sending their income home is bad enough for SA's economy and unemployed citizens.
And bringing their whole family with them is not covered by ZEP.
Almost 200 000 Zimbabweans will be compelled to return home as a result of the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) extension coming to an end in June of this year. Many parents are now concerned about how their kids will transition out of South African schools as a result of this.
