"A new strain of flu that has the potential to become pandemic has been identified in China by scientists. It emerged recently and is carried by pigs, but can infect humans, they say." Researchers concerned it could mutate so that it can spread easily.
We’ve been sold a lie that London & Paris are beautiful. They even tell us that Paris is a romantic city. They’re not. They have grey skies & their brown buildings don’t help. Have you seen the beauty of Zanzibar, Durban, Victoria Falls & Mombasa? Africa has blue skies for days!
I have never seen anything like this! The pride in culture & Africanness exhibited by the Zulu in the last week is like nothing else. Even in Christianity, brought to Africa by the coloniser, Zulu people have preserved who they are.

I can't help but think that the new Radio 2000 is what Metro FM should be, what Metro FM was. Quality conversations about the black experience outside social media. Quality black music & music education. You get the sense that they read and research far & wide too.
Back home in Pietermaritzburg, they’re discussing Dr Zamambo Mkhize who left Edendale Hospital (now Harry Gwala) to get lunch at about midday & never returned. After her husband contacted her tracking company at night, she was found murdered in the boot of her car.
Has any African government, ruling party or president spoken out about what's happening in Zimbabwe right now? Is it quiet diplomacy again, maybe?

Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode's Jerusalema continues to move from house parties to clubs to church to the convent. It does this in every corner of the world.
Burna Boy's Love, Damini is the best album I've heard in a long, long time. It sounds like hard work & a lot of soul and went into it. It takes us to a time we didn't want albums to end because every song sounded better than the previous one. And there are 19 tracks!!
Natasha Mazonne is DA's parly Chief Whip. She has no post high school qualification. Lindiwe Mazibuko held that position & she has a Master's Deegree. John Steenhuisen is DA leader. He has no post high school qualification. Mmusi Maimane held that position & he is a double Master
Zakes Bantwini studied music at DUT. He can play saxophone, guitar, piano, sing and Deejays. Black Coffee studied the same programme at the same university. While there's no formula, theirs was university followed by hard work. Maybe school isn't such a bad idea after all.
This lady speaks some truths. The scramble for what's left of Africa and its resources continues. It's not just the West now. The East has entered. The taking often happens with permission from some of Africa's leaders.
This is Soshangane Nxumalo, born in KwaNomgoma in KwaZulu-Natal. He went on to found the Shangane nation of Mozambique. His grandfather was named Gaza. Mozambique has a province named Gaza.

John Legend's Nervous is great. But this Tik Tok version with Mthandazo Gatya elevates it a hundred times more. I hope it becomes something more than just a Tik ToK version since John Legend loved it as well.
On election day, I was with an Italian journalist working for Italian TV station. On Tuesday, he’d told me that he wants to see violence. I said there’d be no violence. On election day, he wanted us to drive around to search for non-existent violence. This got me really annoyed.
As you continue with criticism of Babes Wodumo's colour white for her celebrity husband, Mampintsha's funeral - one would assume that you know that black as the colour for mourning was introduced by Britain's Queen Victoria. The practice was brought to Africa through colonisation

I've heard people saying black people don't really contribute to charity. We do, every single day. We help out close family, extended family, friends and strangers in need all the time. Ubuntu is what we live daily. Some refer to a part of it as black tax. Charity is always us!!
On Dr Zamambo Mkhize in Pietermaritzburg. Those who work at Edendale Hospital, where she worked, allege that her husband is there & under police guard & say he had tried to commit suicide. From what they know, he’s accused of buying izinkabi (hitmen) to take out his wife.
What's happening with Zanu-pf politicians in Zimbabwe? You'd expect a rebranding of some sort post Mugabe. But mess after mess. Petrol price hike. Wrath unleashed on protesters. Pres. stays abroad despite deaths at home. Internet shutdown. Now controlling who should mourn Tuku?!
That Babes Wodumo interview with MacG was brilliant. Mampintsha called twice during the interview and even asked her to video call to prove she's at an interview. That part was not confusing. Babes Wodumo is a star man!! Superstar! Also, Radio has been properly disrupted here!
I wish Malawians would speak their Chichewa with pride & not apologise for the lack of English. Most Brits don't apologise for knowing only one language. Malawians must own confusing Ls & Rs when speaking languages that weren't originally their own.

This story makes no sense. Che Guevara died in 1967. Jacob Zuma went to exile in the 1970s. The Battle of Cuito Cuanavale took place in 1987 - 20 years after Che died. From the timelines alone, there are a lot of untruths in this story. Guys, we must read!!

But essentially, all Bantu people have some relations & that's why languages gave similarities. That's why mbuzi, manzi, ndlovu (ndovu) are similar from Kenya to the Cape. AmaZulu then birthed Shangane of Moz, Ndebele of Zim, Ngoni or Zambia/Malawi/Tanzania & other SA groups.

African names have deep meanings and histories. Think uThongathi, bastardised to Tongaat. It comes from "bazenza utho ngathi" which means they're making something od themselves out of our pain. History of the land will tell you who the Zulu were referring to those many years ago.

The many comments I read are calling out the adult in this situation to the point that they’ve traced him & shared his photos. It’s South African adults who need to be kept in check. And yes, you’re defending pedophilia.
I speak no Portuguese. When in Mozambique, locals often ask me to speak isiZulu as they understand that better than English. When I do, we are then able to have conversations. IsiZulu helped me in Bulawayo in Zimbabwe as it also helped with the Ngoni of Chipata in Zambia.

Using statues to honour people is something brought to us by colonialists. I sometimes wonder if we should continue where they left off or if we, as Africans, should figure out new ways of honouring our heroes. Statues cost a lot in a continent with many in poverty.

A lot is going on here. There's racism from the man who sees himself as coloured and therefore above black. There's afrophobia. It also all points to self hate as there's dislike of any skin that looks like his.

We didn't have written words, amaZulu write it as Gasa and the Shangane write it as Gaza. It's like how the surname Mabaso has one S in KwaZulu and it becomes Mabasso in Mozambique. Some of our spellings were influenced by who had colonised us. English vs Portuguese.
In many townships, there would be one entrance and one exit. It wasn't for the people of the black township, but for the apartheid police to block anyone from leaving or running away when they'd be there to take unleash their brutality.
Is it not fascinating how there are shows that now start on YouTube before TV channels pick them up. Think Unpacked with Relebogile which is now on S3. Think Podcast and Chill with MacG which is now on Channel O. The internet now allows the viewer to decide what they consume.
