Fascinating. So many questions.
Feels like this could be a really good niche for a real estate agent who has an in with ad agencies, studios, etc?
Also wondering how reliable this is & if it’d allow someone to purchase a better place.
Mr Beast tells aspiring YouTubers to make 100 videos and he'll give them feedback and advice.
2 things happen.
98% never get close and give up.
The 2% who do, no longer need his help.
What's the lesson here?
"barn raising” may be the best metaphor for something i’ve been (unsuccessfully) trying to articulate for awhile:
In one day, 100 coordinated people could do a “reputational barn raising” that would take someone a year to do themselves.
Ohio Amish raise a barn.
An impressive work in photography as well: 1600 pictures taken in 10 hours and compressed in 21 seconds (3 minutes and 30 seconds in the original video)

Humans are like rubber bands: we need tension to be effective. And our effectiveness lies in optimizing that tension.
Too little, and we're useless. Too much, and we snap.
“A man is alive when he is wholehearted, true to himself, true to his own inner forces, and able to act freely according to the nature of the situations he is in.”
“The narrow pursuit of efficiency measures & quantification in the economy has left a creative deficit — a lack of experimentation, imagination, and invention (…) You’re painting by numbers.”

I’d like to think that with enough time, consistent quality gets the attention it deserves, but I don’t think it does. There’s a lot of gamesmanship to Twitter.
And either way, the longer it takes, the less likely someone is to keep shouting into the ether.

Re-reading and realizing I might’ve been unclear… I meant RE agents who could help clients find nicer, more expensive places to purchase bc of their connections to the industry & projected film income.

Cancel culture is a vicious cycle of forced ideological compliance, which leads to fear-based:
▪️Signaling/agreement. This gives the appearance of solidarity & activism, but it's disingenuous & temporary.

Which makes it so much more dangerous!
A 1° turn 180 times is more permissible than a 180° turn once. Each event is barely perceptible but you look back in the aggregate & ask why nothing looks like you wanted it to

yes! one of the reasons a community like this is so important. having a kid is a 0-to-1, never-can-go-back thing, which scares people. but if you can get light exposure earlier — I had this with my niece — then you realize how great it is
The atomic family often forces modern parents to choose between pursuing their great ambitions vs raising a kid. Maybe that tradeoff isn’t necessary. Maybe we can create social technology that lets us do both
