@ForestServiceNW @KIRO7Seattle @komonews @KING5Seattle @KVALnews @KOINNews @KGWNews @KATUNews @Q13FOX @fox12oregon @forestservice Your photo is lovely :) An insane amount of difficult work done by the @forestservice and done safely. To be young again and be able to do such work! I have talked with a LOT of fire crews in the @Angeles_NF and despite the difficulties, they say it's the best job in the world.

Last Saturday the Trailbuilders worked within the @Angeles_NF along Lower Bear Creek Trail, removing deadfalls and working on the trail tread! About a dozen of us repaired the worse of the trail. Now the Angeles is closed to all #hiking and all recreating of any kind due to fires

A few people may proclaim that the anthropogenically-warming climate is not happening, but those of us who work with the consequences of the warming climate find that the real world ignores such unacceptance

Rejection of the real world around us is not a privilege that farmers, ranchers, hikers, bikers and the rest can engage in out in the real world.

This is part of the difficulty that we are seeing in the @Angeles_NF and a great deal of the difficulty that the @forestservice nationally is facing: Warming climate, more severe wildfires, reduced funding, and difficulty in retaining experienced employees.

Saturday the TrailBuilders started a new project. Our crew of 12 traveled up Mt. Wilson work the Sturtevant Trail from the summit down. This section required a bit of brushing, some log removal, and a LOT of tread work. We were able to clear about 1/3 to 1/2 mile of trail.

On Saturday the Trailbuilders went to Chantry Flat on our last scheduled work day before the areas re-opening in October. A strong crew of 16 put the finishing touches on the Upper Winter Creek Trail. There is now a cleared path from Chantry Flat to the summit of Mt. Wilson.

We had a crew of 11 work the Upper Falls Trail in preparation for the scheduled opening of Chantry Flat. Weather was very warm, typical summer with lots of bugs. We cleared the newly fallen trees, cleared overgrown brush and reworked the tread. Trail is in good shape now.

On Sunday 8 Trailbuilders headed up to Chantry Flat to work on the Upper Winter Creek trail. Weather was great, and the veteran trail crew enjoyed the cool, bug free morning. Some of the crew made it all the way to the Bench on Manzanita Ridge. Getting very close to re-opening!

@What_Doubelieve @FredHikes Fred is unique. One of a kind. If he ever retires from the real world and volunteers all the time, he will probably be covered head to toe in poison oak all of the time.
