Didn't grow up with it like most did, but in 2010 I started with DB Ep 1 and went all the way through GT, all in JP with every special/film included in release order. Then I rewatched DBZ Kai dubbed as it came out.
This was, for me, the best experience by far. OG DB is amazing.

Even when working in anime, there are other aspects of life here that are a challenge. DFW and Houston are EXTREMELY car dependent, corporate, and massive metros without as many walkable regions.
That makes it hard to build a stable social support network even as a working actor

I stand by what I said; of all the Gundam works, IMHO, Turn A is the peak.🥂
Turn A Gundam's 25th anniversary was on April 9, 2024. I wrote a retrospective article on how the community gathered to celebrate this milestone achievement—highlighting fans, artists, and industry people, from all around the world. It was a festival!

While I am a dub actor for the Wano arc, I've also been watching dubbed and subbed anime for 25 years. I love the sheer # of 70s and 80s veteran seiyuu you'll find in the OG cast. I have immense respect for them.
Suichi Ikeda as Shanks is the definition of perfect meme casting.

The
#Gunbuster
dub is perfect. I have no other word for it, and I've been watching and buying mecha anime for nearly 25 years now.
The entire cast perfectly hits a fine balance between modern dub techniques and classic campy 80s hot blooded intensity. I cannot reccomend it more!

I'd argue it's been easy to track this message across the entirety of his works, all the way back to 0079. The fact that he so often ties it to war is besides the point; he wants people to be better, more empathetic, more like a "New Type" of people, not follow "old" instincts.

Good advice. I've tried to make it a rule to have as much fun as I can while auditioning... to give each read the same excitement as if it was a paid job.
After all, there's ways I can experiment auditioning that I can't necessarily do in the booth, & that itself helps me learn.
Voice Actor Tip 🎙️
Stop stressing about auditioning and start having fun.
You're job as an actor is to breath life into the words on the page and when you're stressed that comes through in the read. So do whatever you need to do get yourself in the right headspace & have fun!
