In complete agreement with Patrick...what an extraordinarily eclectic band of soldiers...hoping to catch Patrick's talk in the not-too-distant future!
The Artists Rifles was perhaps the most curious regiment in the British Army.Β Formed in 1860 by a group of painters, architects, poets, sculptors, musicians & actors concerned about a possible French invasion.Β Tonight I shall be telling their story to the Streatham Society.

Many thanks Pete...Reg's story is all the more remarkable for research/study...so often in the thick of the action...and influential...it was a brilliant opportunity to get to write about the man...
@RushmerPR enjoyed your presentation on @WW2TV It's good to learn about a man such as Reg.

@ThabangMazibu @butcher_roland I grew up in awe watching Roberts, Holding (my favourite, poetry watchinghim run in), Garner and Marshall rip through England's batsmen. Then Greenidge, Haynes and Viv would smash 'em to all parts...that team was the best
