That CJ interview just tore my heart out.
He's never been anything less than 100% committed to Munster and Ireland.
Anyone who called for him to be dropped because of his retirement should drop their heads in shame, and leave them there.
A genuine Irish rugby hero

Hugo Keenan. Playing for the school 4ths at U14, subbing for the social team at U16. A late call-up to the Leinster academy, first capped in 2016, first start 2018. Capped for Ireland 2019, has hardly missed a game since.
The epitome of "you're not beaten until you quit".

I listen to a lot of rugby podcasts.
A lot.
And every single one I've listened to has had significant coverage of the Women's Six Nations. As it should be, but heartening to hear.

A blanket ban for 2 players at grassroots level is a gross over-reach, and completely unnecessary. The damage this is doing within the rugby community is immense.
IRFU updates Transgender guidelines.
‘This is a particularly sensitive area, and it is important that respect is shown to all members of our rugby family and the wider community.’
I have to say, I see the way everyone's ignoring that Ireland have had a new, naive flyhalf throughout the championship.
And won the whole fuckin thing.
Marcus who?
🗣️ "I honestly believe that Borthwick's players had read my pre-match column because they were so quickly out of the blocks."
🤔 Hmmm, we're not so sure Clive...

France are dead set against the 20 minute red, with an indication that the rest of the 6N countries are of a like mind.
If that's true then the global trial of it is dead in the water, and I couldn't be happier about it.
World Rugby pourrait entériner une série de nouvelles règles, dont le carton rouge de vingt minutes. Selon nos informations, FFR et LNR se sont fermement positionnées contre et l’ont fait savoir à la sainte mère du rugby dans le monde.

Will Connors made *17* tackles in 24 minutes off the bench for Leinster on Saturday night.
Some effort for his first game back after almost four months out injured.
So I've had a look at the try-saver from last night as well.
If you look at the extension of the ball carrying arm and the swinging leg you can see that it was the foot that dislodged the ball.
That's a kick, and should have awarded a penalty try here for me.
The Ireland games in NZ are on Sky Sports here, which is a pain. BUT you can get Sky Sports through NOW TV, and with the code NOWBNJDJVPKA you can get the first 3 months for €10 p/m, and you can cancel the sub at any time. Thanks to
@NiallOrmond
for the code!
So Ireland are playing a NZ with their backs against the wall while we have a limited squad with injury issues.
You couldn't put together a better RWC QF simulation if you tried. This is a *fantastic* opportunity just over a year out.
Constants are such a comfort, to be able to rely on certain truths in this universe.
The speed of light in a vacuum.
The length of a meter and weight of a kilo.
And THE Award Winning Rugby Journalist™ being an absolute infantile prat when confronted with a fact.
Instead of a coin flip for kick-off in the final, I demand that it be decided by dance-off between a nominated starting front row from each team on the half way line.
Don't @ me.
Terrible news for Reece and the All Blacks.
Scans confirm the worst, Sevu Reece to miss the remainder of the Super Rugby Pacific season and the World Cup.

Leinster supporters here chatting about who we want in to the national squad with Hanson out.
And we want Nash. Has the potential to give a dimension we don't have currently in the squad.

I've started a deep dive on this. Looks like they're may be about 3.2 million citable incidents. Might be more when I move on to the next frame.
I see that himself thinks that discrimination against women in rugby doesn't exist, due to his extensive experience in ... *searches papers*... being a white middle-aged man.

I notice that *that* podcast clip interviewing a player who'll be in Croke Park this weekend was deleted.
Luckily I got a screencap for archive purposes.
I'm going to have to assume he was on a bet.

Players, who pursue rugby as a career & get paid millions a year to do so, know the risk. If they wanted a career in touch rugby, then that is what they should have chosen. Alternatively ballet or working at a bank.
"I can't. I'm retired."
"You know we wouldn't be here asking you if there were any other way. You are all that stands between us and annihilation."
"Well then I guess I'm going to need my boots."
An awful lot of chat yesterday evening about ref decisions.
Seemingly ignoring that Toulouse's decision to play a 6/2 bench backfired horribly when they compounded it by moving the world's best 9 to 10.
Nor the team's collective decision not to adjust to the referee.
This is the Leva Fifita yellow card that we discussed on yesterday's pod for members of The42.
This was Connacht lock Fifita's second yellow, so he was sent off.

There's still a lot of discourse over the cards last night, so to give it some context it might be worth bearing in mind that NZ were the most heavily carded side at this RWC (5Y, 2R).
That doesn't exist in isolation from all the other teams.

Fair play to the Bulls. Apparently no-one gave them the script, the better team on the day.
Time now to reflect, regroup and plan out a new approach to playing very physical teams for next season.

Afternoon all. As of this week coming I'm embarking on an intensive masters course in Data Analytics for the next 18 months or so.
It's a huge undertaking for both me and my family, and as a result I'm going to be taking a step back from my social media activities.
