PUBLISHED: HNC cases in Rwanda rose from 2011-2020, with 22% HPV prevalence. HPV16 was the predominant strain. Our findings highlight the need for routine HPV testing and better tissue preservation.

Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, the Minister of Health, confirmed that cancer treatment would soon be included under Mutuelle de Santé coverage. Starting July, the insurance scheme will also cover kidney transplants, prosthesis, and 11 other crucial health services. The scheme has ben covering 90% of medical expenses, but chemotherapy and radiotherapy for cancer are excluded, leaving patients to bear the full cost. After listening to the citizens, government decided to amend the provisions of the scheme!! No one was arrested for asking the Government to respond to the needs of the citizens!
