Couldn’t have said it any better than Dr. @NashiElias Kivuyo! Dr. Kivuyo is one of only a few female surgeons in Tanzania🇹🇿, a fierce advocate for her patients, and a rising 🌟in global cancer research. @ConquerCancerFd @womenlifthealth @UCSFCancer @muhascxcollab @IGHSatUCSF @uicc
This #WorldCancerDay, let’s talk about #CancerCare in LMICs. Global solutions alone won’t solve our challenges—we need local data to drive local solutions Investment in cancer registries & local research is critical. Let’s close the care gap with evidence-based, local solutions

On #WorldCancerDay, I am thrilled to assume the EIC role at @JCOGO_ASCO and excited to lead this impactful journal into its 2nd decade. We must continue to advance the @ASCO vision: “a WORLD🌍 where cancer is prevented or cured, and every survivor is healthy..” To achieve this, dissemination of knowledge is critical.

Congratulations to @ng_dianna @muhascxcollab @AsteriaKimambo @DrBeatriceMushi for this amazing work to advance precision diagnostics and GeneXpert for beeast cancer patients in sub-Saharan Africa 🌍. @CepheidNews #WorldCancerDay
Breast cancer is the most common cancer globally and the leading cause of cancer deaths among women. Survival rates in low- and middle-income countries are much lower than in high-income nations due to late diagnoses and limited access to care. In Tanzania, where breast cancer is the second most lethal cancer among women, Global Cancer Program researchers from UCSF, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Muhimbili University recently introduced a new biopsy technique that delivers faster and more accurate breast cancer diagnoses. By using the widely available GeneXpert system, they can detect biomarkers and deliver same-day results, offering hope for more effective treatment in resource-limited settings. Congratulations to the team for recently publishing these results in The Lancet Oncology.

This is an amazing partnership between @inmegen and @UCSFCancer, which aims to improve global access to precision oncology diagnostics.
In Mexico, we are bridging the gap in access to molecular diagnostics—an essential step in delivering personalized, effective treatments for childhood cancers. By partnering with the National Institute for Genomic Medicine in Mexico City, we are validating and implementing technology to enable precise cancer diagnosis and guide tailored treatment strategies for each child.  @ASweetCordero @inmegen

Love this. Happy #GivingTuesday
Generosity rarely starts with an offer of help. It often begins with a question about what others need. Even those close to us face invisible hardships. The best way to give is to ask about their challenges. We don't always have a solution, but we can always make them feel seen. #GivingTuesday
