Remembering Jolene Mauch Smalley, who died two years ago this week at the age of 94. She was the sister of #expos manager Gene Mauch. That's her on the left with Gene's first wife Nina. Jolene was married to Roy Smalley Jr. Their son is @twins announcer @roysmalley5.

@TwinsAlmanac As nasty as Butch’s slide was it was legal in the day-his legs were in contact with the base-it was just a really hard slide. I think there is a way to enforce that-ejection for any rolling body block or not staying in contact with the base. Maybe kinder, gentler is better, idk

@TwinsAlmanac 1B was easier than SS. Way to involved and moving at SS: side to side, up and back, turning a double play, etc. I was able to protect the ankle a little better at 1B. Fortunately, I didn’t have a lot of action over there that day

@TwinsAlmanac @WhiteHouse @PioneerPress It was indeed “something.” Can’t really articulate it. Little kid’s dream and all that, but still doesn’t do it justice
