It's funny because I hate my area it's super boring but the public services are (minus schools) pretty great I'm really going to miss the speed and efficiency of everything once I move ๐

@birdgassm That sucks, but you gotta remember you basically live in the worst part of the UK NHS is still incredible where I am thankfully or my mum wouldn't have lasted 18 years with cancer

I should add that when I was leaving the second floor still had art, so I think they're just doing shitty remodelling downstairs NHS art budget hasn't been completely slashed ๐
But you can definitely massively see the funding cuts There's no artwork along the main corridors now ๐ (Hospital art coordinator is a legit job which I'm guessing has been laid off in the past few years) Really really shitty building work in the main corridors, too

Almost nothing survives of old Dubai, but the 7.7 acres of Al Bastakiya is the notable exception. Built mostly in the 1890s, it survives today thanks to now King Charles II who personally intervened to stop its demolition in 1989. Once home to 60 mostly Persian merchant families.

Tbf this reminds me of the food festival in my tiny white town when a Caribbean food truck came in and he only did basic food and we were all like 'oh no, we would've loved goat! It's our favourite' & he went 'damn, I didn't know, guess I'll bring it next time'
