From my last Pencilmation, 'What's The Brush?'. Not hugely enamoured by any of these scenes, with the few funny drawings being let down by unthinking cushion inbetweens (but it would've taken ages if I hadn't).

My CD-i scene had comments noting the Thief influence, but no guesses why. The Thief and CD-i's animation share similar ideals (daft perspective, nonsense acting), and my shot was a jab at that (perhaps only half-aware of it at the time).

Here's some trimmings from the latest Pencilmation I worked on. I thought it'd be funny to wedge a Richard Williams walk cycle between two bits of very graphic and choppy animation. Not the happiest with the box carrying cycle, but it was a first for me!

I think I did those antlers straight ahead, hence why they aren't firmly planted in his skull.

Roughs from the latest Ollie & Scoops. Had fun doing this! Moved to OpenToonz (and to another computer) with trepidation, so the crazed fidgeting scribbles (a lot was going on) of Flash MX were suddenly contained into a humbled and rounded look while I would relearn the ropes.

I was going for a shoestring 60's style like Roger Ramjet combined with scratchy 70's Xerox. This was animated alongside the Zelda scene, and while a lot of other things were going on, so to spend only around 3 days on this was a nice break.

At one point I thought I'd experiment and do a deliberately shitty "Flebus" outline. The director didn't like it, and quite right in retrospect. It was a bore retracing it though.

Why are animators not okay with expression of personal dislikes, usually out of fear for their chance in the industry (unlike musicians/painters who can be very particular)? How about I work with people who don't even care about my personal taste, as long as I produce good work?

Leaning/skewed drawings that fall apart when you flip the canvas can be a graphic statement in and of itself.
Correcting art on the basis of right and wrong, or theories, is as bad as arbitrarily taking all suggestions to heart, whether it's from an idol or some random.

A pleasant discovery in OpenToonz is you can tell a camera tween to move on twos, avoiding that stroboscopic jitter from the animation "catching up" every other frame. To the best of my knowledge, you can't do that in Flash or ToonBoom without splitting it up into keyframes.
