In Mortals, @RachelEMenzies and I examine all the major human responses to death across our history. In a terrible irony, Homo sapiens may be destroyed by our knowledge of our own mortality. Why not preorder your copy right now! 😊

@EmilSutovsky Jeepers matey stop attacking the GOAT on your private X account. Your conflict of interest (given your FIDE position) is appalling. You just don’t seem to see it. Let the FIDE page respond to this crisis. As if Magnus is doing it for the reasons you claim 🙄

@MouseDanger007 @EmilSutovsky It’s completely over the top. They both laughed as he said it. It was a joke, and not a private joke - said quite loudly in fact. Let it go @MouseDanger007. Time to move on

@EmilSutovsky You are damaging the sport @EmilSutovsky. Relentless digs at the world’s best chess player are bizarre coming from the CEO of FIDE. You should either stand down or stop stoking the flames.

@maniangopi @EmilSutovsky “They planned” is an assumption. Their games had been very competitive. If you’re looking for short draws, have a look at the final round of the Swiss before the finals. If the Arbiter was serious about stopping this, he could have done it then. Those games lasted 30 seconds.

@maniangopi @EmilSutovsky This has absolutely nothing to do with what occurred here. It doesn’t even resemble this situation.

@maniangopi @EmilSutovsky You think this is the equivalent of terrorists planning … two chess players publicly, politely and openly asking the Arbiter to share the prize … and joking and laughing while waiting for a decision 😳

@alexholowczak @EmilSutovsky No I don’t. That is, I don’t know what discussions occurred between the Arbiter and other FIDE reps. But we do know that he came back to the players with the news that they would be co-champions as requested.
