Nail-biting finish to an outstanding tournament in Tashkent!. Pragg claims the gold after the play-off, and poised to qualify to Candidates-2026 via FIDE Circuit, unless one of his rivals start winning all the events in the second half of the year - and at the same time fail to.

Did you pay attention how exciting are the games in Tashkent? Every round we see 2-3 absolutely mind-boggling battles. No Berlins etc. Young generation plays it absolutely differently. Boring? Dull? Nothing of the kind. "I don't have time/patience to watch the game for 3+ hours".

Wow. Such a rare take. "I don't agree with Emil, but his position is very nuanced and not limited.". No idea, who left this comment under my interview with Sagar, but I do feel we all would have been better off trying to understand our counterparts - even disagreeing with them.

Kramnik turns 50 today!. My decades-long admiration is mixed with rather bitter disappointment in regards to his recent actions - in particular against David Navara. I penned an essay in my Facebook to reflect on all these. Kindly check it there. Meanwhile, I wish Vladimir

Boris Gelfand turned 57 today!.A top-10 player for nearly 30 years, outstanding author, an excellent coach - but first and foremost one of the most devoted chess persons in the history of the game. He is not present in SM, but do share your wishes and/or appreciation for Boris

Great news coming from Singapore, where FIDE World Championship Match-2024 was recognized as the best Sport Event of the Year. It was a close cooperation of FIDE with Singaporean Chess Federation, and LOC led by @kevingohwm . Thousands of hours of work - from early planning to

I think there is another aspect to it, often neglected. Say, youtuber G vs youtuber S. G has three times more subscribers, but how many of them become real chess fans? Play regularly? Start following events, take chess lessons, become a part of chess ecosystem?. S may have much.

Do you agree with that?. I don't - but maybe that's because my bubble consists of hardcore chess fans. But I do feel Levy's perception is extremely US-centric. And I also feel, that in general streamers/youtubers impact on the game is much less significant than it used to be few

Happy to hear that from a fellow GM and a top organizer. It'd be great to have more feedback - both from the participants and the spectators.

The concept of the World Rapid and Blitz team event is actually really good. There were so many kids and amateurs who get to play alongside their heroes. In the blitz, you even get a guaranteed chance to play them. The recreational board is typically helmed by the sponsor -.

I find Kramnik's latest address to David Navara quite outrageous. No, more than that. Inhuman. You might be in your right legally, or maybe you are not. But one has to go over the edge to attack like that a person who clearly exposed his major mental struggles. I really think.

Exciting and dramatic finish of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2024-25. Pastoral surroundings of a tiny Grosslobming witnessed a real battle. Unnerving last round where all the games were still on after four hours of play, led to a tie between Anna Muzychuk and Zhu Jiner. The
