You can look at Koei Tecmo's Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series. That's a good example of a Japanese studio who listened to their western branch's lies about how the western fans don't want this and that. Then they made toned down games like DOA6 and NG3, and both series died.

And just for your information, some of those localizers are just JLPT N3 or N2 exam passers. I encourage anybody who want to learn it; if those stupid localizers can learn it, you can do it, too.
