@AdHaque110 Very unfortunate. But I guess the government did not have the appetite to test the alternative.

@malcyjorgy @Verfassungsblog One man's double standard is another man's judicial overreach 😉 Jokes aside: this was a political decision to choose the lesser of two bad outcomes. Faced with the prospect of becoming a target for Trump/Musk/MAGA/Republicans/AJC, the 🇵🇱 gov't chose to cave in.

@AdHaque110 Fair point. I guess I am in favour of international courts generally showing more restraint to preserve acceptance of their core judicial function. But I guess it's the eternal question of whether it's better to lead boldly or tread carefully when trying to promote justice.

@AdHaque110 The Court's perspective is clear, just as with the Appeals Chamber's decision on immunity in Al-Bashir. And we know how that reasoning is respected and applied by States... Where Courts test and stretch the limits of their jurisdiction, States may not be willing to follow.

@MPiatkowski1 Niestety obawiam się, że nadmierny aktywizm niektórych trybunałów międzynarodowych w drodze ekspansywnej interpretacji własnej jurysdykcji i kompetencji będzie miał negatywne skutki dla akceptacji samej idei sądownictwa międzynarodowego.

@wupeka @J_Jaraczewski It seems to me that this would fall under Abschnitt 5 - Katzenschutznetze of the Berliner Balkonschutznetzverordnung, or BSchuNeVO.

@StefanTalmon It would be much appreciated if the article provided proper references and links to the cited document(s), for those of us who may want to read and cite the original source as evidence of practice.

So much for European Digital Sovereignty...
EU Parliament permits users to use Claude 3.5 by Anthropic to query its archive of 100,000 documents from 1952-1994. A great way to gain insight into EU history. I've tried it--it seems really good. Also, notably, this is a U.S. AI company running on an Amazon cloud.

Można dyskutować nt. proporcjonalności no i zakazu zadawania zbędnego cierpienia.

@aurelsari That's the essence of russia in one tweet. Haven't changed a bit since Ivan the Terrible.

@DrAndrewDwyer I'm not advocating against third-party cybersecurity suppliers. But I'm sure there is a way to limit the impact f-ups by third parties have on your systems, either by limiting privilege escalation or exerting greater control over a vendor's internal procedures to reduce risk.
