My son in law just had his flight to Brisbane to attend AFL Preliminary final tonight cancelled with no alternatives offered. He will now miss the match after securing match tickets & accommodation. Hudson may not be Joyce, but #Qantas is still Qantas.

#Dutton said today “Why have they allowed 105,000 asylum seekers into our country over the last 15 months”. This is untrue. At end May 22, there were over 94,000 asylum seekers in OZ, vast majority of whom arrived when Dutton was Home Affairs Minister.

Dutton/Littleproud are now blaming removal of temporary protection visas. Those were only used for boat arrivals. They have never been used for onshore asylum applicants. Just making it up as they go along.

Without any evidence, Coalition is arguing 3,000 visitor visas for Palestinians were ‘rushed’. 3,000 visitor visas over 9 months with a refusal rate of over 70% is not rushed. Most high risk visitor visas can be processed in a few weeks including an ASIO referral.

Without leg. change (which itself would be dubious), not possible to have a blanket refusal rule for visitor visa applicants from a particular nationality. Also not possible for the minister to instruct decision-makers to refuse all such visas. Dutton’s proposal was illegal.

This is rubbish. Dutton didn't 'personally' cancel 6,300 visas. Most cancellations done by compliance staff (which he cut massively) or by operation of law. He set records for people in detention on character but actual removals from detention plunged.

If #Biloela family is deported, they can't 'apply like anyone else'. They would be subject to s48 barring an application and have to repay a massive debt to Govt. Zero chance of being able to return. Dutton would have been briefed on this. He is again being misleading.

When I first came to OZ in 1960s, OZ day was celebrated with a quiet, understated dignity. Mostly just a picnic or game of cricket. We have now Americanised OZ day into a flag waving fever where your patriotism is judged by number of flags you fly.
