@Aleppo2024 Same way it started in Daraa in 2011 because of economic hardships accelerated by the drought…it ended also when officers couldnt feed their families and were negotiating deals to collect 30$ from soldiers to stay home. No money + total loss of confidence in regime = game over

@Aleppo2024 I will add that some Alawites grew up with massive resentment from stories they were told (their mothers worked as servants, ottoman mistreatment etc). In Hama, some sunnis were targeted, pre/post 1982 because they were seen as feudalist, so many killed with 0 accountability.
