I just published a book (see links in the thread).
It is an archive of blog posts that I wrote publicly between April of 2020 and January of 2024, as I responded to the threat of lockdowns to the church from a Biblical & Reformed perspective.
It is called "The COVID Archives: a
I grew up in a home where the Bible was read around the dinner table at least 2x a day. My dad grew up in a home where the Bible was read around the dinner table at least 2x a day. I’m raising my children in that same tradition.
My dad always said that the tv is the center of
Did you know Christian husbands can save the world in only ten minutes per day?
Okay. That is an exaggeration. But few evangelicals know you can take ground for the Kingdom, and obey the Lord in the leadership of your family, right from your kitchen table.
The practice of
One of the striking thing about this protest is that there are no riot shields.
I see riot shields at various protests.
But not here.
Riot shields are defensive.
But there is no need to defend yourself from peaceful protestors.
There are only clubs and weapons among police.
I just saw a Canadian Pastor tweet his concern that "We have young men being discipled by Fox News and Doug Wilson." What is even scarier is that most of our young men are being discipled by the CBC and Karl Marx.
I am a 30 year old male. I am married w/ two kids. I am a 3rd gen Canadian. I've lived in ON, PE and AB. I have studied in the States and Canada. I have pastored for 3 yrs and preached for 6. Trudeau thinks I am a fringe extremist. This is silly.

Bill C4 passes with unanimous consent in the Senate. Has God given our nation over? Oh that He would rend the heavens open and come down. I still believe that we may see reformation in our time. As we face this new test may God give us stalwart courage to proclaim Christ!
It is not enough for the Prime Minister to drop the Emergency Measures Act and wash his hands.
He needs to be held accountable for using it in the first place.
The Prime Minister is under the law. He is not the sole arbiter of the law.
@DrJuliePonesse
sees what a lot of Christian leaders don’t see.
And that is the hatred for Christians that has been weaponized in COVID regulations.
May God give us eyes to see and wisdom and courage to act:
I am delighted that this morning our third child was born. He is a son. He joins his older brother and sister in our home. My prayer is that he would grow into a stalwart man of faith, full of courage and wisdom, to serve God faithfully in this wicked & perverse generation.
Just a quick thought on Ligon Duncan talking about the Moscow Mood (see link below).
Doug Wilson gave a reasonable response to Kevin De Young and respectfully invited him into a discussion.
It was interesting and somewhat bizarre to hear Ligon now describe Moscow as LARPing

The fact that there even was a vote shows how much our understanding of fundamental rights and freedoms have devolved.
The whole point of fundamental rights and freedoms is that they are not up for vote.
Canadian Church leaders are busy parsing the Greek word for "persecution" while pastors in Alberta are arrested and pastors across Canada are fined and harassed and threatened. This is cause for joy. This is not a joke. Let's temper criticism with sobriety and fear of God.
@TheRealKeean
Neither. I am glad that Peterson is challenging Schwab, but I don't believe that we need a human figurehead for the future of humanity. Humanism ends only in tyranny. That position, power, authority, belongs only to Jesus Christ.
I appreciate this essay that got
@calvinrobinson
canceled.
No denomination comes out unscathed.
We do need solutions to the liberalism that is shredding everything from the Roman Catholic Church to the Anglican Church to the Christian Reformed Church:
@tim__stephens
Acts 5:41–42 "Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus."
@charlesadler
@JustinTrudeau
Wait, the Trudeaus are clearly at least semi-Marxists. Below are the 10 points from the Communist Manifesto by Marx & Engels:
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of
At a time in Canadian history when babies are being killed in the womb, the elderly are being euthanized, the preaching of the Word is under fire, and our worship is curtailed, why are Canadian pastors taking potshots at pastors like Wilson? (I don't care about Fox News).
@TheRealKeean
What about Drew Barnes or Todd Loewen? I don’t know much about them but they both had enough integrity to stand their ground when it was not politically advantageous.
My brother and I are now both members of Knox Presbytery of the CREC, doing the work of the Lord, teaching the Bible and sound doctrine in the Christian, Reformed and Protestant tradition in northwestern Canada.
@megbasham
@challies
I believe that Tim Challies took a compliant stance in the midst of lockdowns, so this does not surprise.
@challies
- if I am wrong, please correct me.
Today my ministerial credentials were examined by Knox Presbytery of the CREC. I have been officially received as a pastor in good standing. I am thankful for my time as an ordained pastor in the URC and for my first 10 months of ministry in CCC of Grande Prairie. Jesus is Lord.
It would be helpful for every Christian (especially pastors & elders) to unequivocally say:
(1) the lockdown of the church was wrong;
(2) the binding of consciences was wrong;
(3) we don't want this to ever happen again.
@brandonmscalf
Credobaptism violates the regulative principle of worship because it’s based on inference and assumptions (at best) instead of explicit assertions.
I love my baptist brothers and sisters too. 😁
@Martyupnorth_2
Ha, I got blocked by Adler after he mocked me for posting the communist manifesto and pointing out the obvious that Canada is largely communist.
I don’t know how someone this immature is able to get appointed to a senate position.
@TaylorRMarshall
I've replied and retweeted your posts. I'm not damning anyone to hell. You are the one that is putting Protestants outside of the catholic church which you equate with Rome. When will an RC leader engage reasonably with historic protestantism?
@TheRealKeean
So they were protecting the dead trees, not the people or property.
That's the epitome of environmentalism.
The dominion of the environment over mankind.
Human life and flourishing is subjected to their radical ideology.
It is hard to stomach what is coming out of Ottawa.
These are real people made in the image of God getting beat up and trampled by horses.
Saw a former rcmp officer nobly hand himself in for arrest.
This was a peaceful protest. This is what a lawless state looks like.
What makes evil men scared?
Not...
- Threats
- Smack talk
- Fire power
But...
- Worshipping churches
- Tight knit families
- Hard working men
- Laughter and joy
You want reformation?
Fight for the godliness of the church and the family.
There is a lot going on in Canada. One more thing. Pack out the churches. If churches need to set up loud speakers in the streets, even better. We need to return to the need for corporate renewal. God not only works with individuals but with those who are united in the Spirit.
@calvinrobinson
I don't mind seeing the media tyranny falling. But we should be aware that this would be a massive amount of control given too whomever is the given CEO of Twitter at a given time. This kind of centralization should give us pause.
If evangelists can be ticketed on the street because their work is deemed non-essential. If churches can be shut down because their work is deemed non-essential. Then what will happen to your church YouTube channel when Bill C-6 and Bill C-10 come out?
The intent of my social media presence is to state Christian truth clearly and succinctly in a world of smoke and mirrors. My highest desire is that everyone who reads it comes to know the power of the death and resurrection of Jesus and joins me in worship of the Triune God.
@megbasham
The pressure in the Reformed & Presbyterian & evangelical world to distance oneself from Wilson is real (a form of virtue signalling?). I've never seen a good reason why to do that and in fact, the opposite.
My wife and I have a baby due next year, to add to our two children.
That means that we have three children already.
The little baby in the womb is a distinct body, made in the image of God, and made to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever.
@TaylorRMarshall
That 27 year-old relied heavily on the church fathers and especially the Scriptures to demonstrate the problems in the later councils which are fallible and often err and contradict themselves. And he was working in tandem with many pastors who agreed.
@atRachelGilmore
It would make sense for someone in their 50s or over to know what the weather was like 50 years ago than for a 20 something journalist to know what the weather was like 50 years ago...
I was installed as the pastor of Christ Covenant Church in Grande Prairie tonight.
I am looking forward to the leading and guiding of the Lord in the coming months and years!
More churches in Canada when interviewing a pastoral candidate need to ask if he is ready to go to prison for the sake of the gospel.
I never heard it until I came to Grande Prairie.
But with Canada's legal trajectory, our pastors need to be ready to suffer and rejoice.
“My political views are inseparable from my theological convictions. I oppose tyranny not because I want to do whatever I like, but because tyrants defy God. Civil authority is limited because only God has absolute authority.” Peter Leithart
@Bret_Sears
It doesn’t matter what the meaning of Christmas is to me.
Historically it was a celebration of the birth of Christ and should still be seen as such.
It’s in the name. 👍
@DerekSloanCPC
Thank-you for speaking out for Canadian freedoms - especially the freedom of churches to care for souls. I am praying that many of your colleagues join you in the coming days and months.
@tim__stephens
Hebrews 10:34 "For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one."
@TJSumpter
The argument makes sense to me, but we have to ensure that people understand that the Old Testament is is deeply Christian, and that the holy gospel was already made known in Paradise.
The Justice Centre is pleased to share that charges against Pastor Stephens' Fairview Baptist Church have been officially withdrawn by Crown prosecutors today.
@tim__stephens
It is fascinating to see a slumbering people awake. First in the freedom convoy. But then in subsequent movements across the country to push back. In Alberta we have an anti-lockdown and pro-energy premier. In New Brunswick, they have a premier who is defending parental rights.
One of the best way to respond to the sexualization and increasing sexual confusion among minors is to take them out of the government funded schools and homeschool them or send them to private schools.
Oh and don’t give them free and open access the internet at a young age.
For the next 176 days I hope to post a verse from Ps 119.
Just the verse or with a comment/explanation.
Here goes:
Day 1: “Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD!” (Psalm 119:1)
We find this state of blessing in union with Christ - Eph 1:3
I happened to drive by this church building in rural Alberta today.
A lot of things started to change in Canada when images of this simple building behind a fence hit the news.
Looking back, it was a historic example of interactions between the “power” and the “holy”.
@thatbrian
I am glad to hear about your testimony of God’s grace in your life. May these young people taste the same grace rather than taking a much darker path.
Arrests have begun in Ottawa. This is a peaceful protest. If there is no public outcry then prepare for a future for your children where they will have to keep their mouths shut or face the consequences.
Pray for Pastor James Coates as he takes the stand to defend his conscientious objections to public health orders. Pastors and elders are bound in conscience to the Word of God before the mandates of the State. This trial has implications for all of us.
@JCCFCanada
It is amazing how everyone shifts responsibility in the current set-up. The premier shifts it too an unelected health official and then the unelected health official shifts it to the elected officials. Et voila! We find the science of politics and the politics of science.
I am convinced that there is some sort of Reformed revival going on in North America and also in Canada.
People are longing for a deeper understanding of the Scriptures that will stand against a whole host of lies being perpetuated in our times.
This is why the old doctrines of
@KaeleyT
That doesn’t seem to be a good way to argue - to start by insulting the psychological intelligence of those who disagree with you.
What does the text say? What does it say in the context of Scripture?
Sound questions help for good Bible study.
@Bret_Sears
Absolutely. Under 5% or even less of the Canadian populace should be on the payroll of the government. We need to cut bureaucracy far more than Poilievre or Smith are willing to do (yet)
Economically, Canada is heading in the direction of Venezuela, and I would not be surprised if we look like Venezuela in 5-10 years.
On the other hand, with a Christian worldview on labour, money, state and all the resources at hand, Canada could instead be the most prosperous
@kevinmyoung
There is an important pronoun in Acts 2: "They sold THEIR property."
Generosity in the New Testament is not coerced and private property (re the 8th commandment) is assumed.
So there is not much that is socialist abut the NT.
I keep wondering if this is a parody account...
At Christ Covenant Church of Grande Prairie, we ordained three men to serve as deacons today, and to assist the session of elders in the work of ministry.
Praise the Lord with us.
We are desperately in need of the gospel of grace. We need to be converted. We need to be born again, born from above. And that is why we need to hear a message of hope resound from our pulpits every Sunday.

#BillC4
What happened with gofundme is unjust and evil. But hopefully this opens people’s eyes to the deep darkness that has overtaken our nation. We are further gone than many thought. When we realize that there is hope for a solution.
Pastors who locked down their churches and then changed their tune when public opinion shifted concern me far more than the politicians who did so.
Pastors ought not be pragmatists.
It is OK to change, but we should be identified by unflinching conviction in Biblical principle.
@catherinejclark
You don’t stop speaking against injustice just because there is a worse one happening elsewhere. In fact that is the best time to speak out: before it gets really bad and even more people get hurt.
@RachelNotley
Technically a socialist government wants to tax us so they can give us a pension when if taxes were lighter we could organize our own pension. Some would choose to skip the middle man and the potential of socialist mismanagement.
I took vows as a representative of Christ Covenant Church who re entered as a member church of the CREC today.
There was a candidacy exam as well at presbytery today.
It was a good day at Knox Presbytery.
