Ever wondered what #JamesBond's revenge on Blofeld could have looked like if they'd pursued DAF's original script? Well, here's my interpretation in my ongoing Diamonds Reimagined project...

@LL_Cool_G007 To be fair, there's nothing to suggest that all the papers included a photo of Bond - we just see the one in Hong Kong does. In Japan it may not have been front page news. And since Osato and Helga don't recognise him, I expect they weren't shown his photograph up to that point.

@KevBot_007 This one was rather good. Horowitz sure knows how to craft some brilliant suspense sequences!

@BravesGators @KevBot_007 I've found that the underwater scenes are more enjoyable if you're seeing the film as it was meant to be seen - on a big cinema screen. It's all about the atmosphere!

@Really007pod @007 @JF_on_nothing I suppose, it's just that the lack of consistency between the portrayals makes them feel almost like different characters. I get more of a charismatic mobster sense from Savalas than that of the deranged puppet master that Pleasence portrayed. I personally prefer the latter.

#NowWatching The Man With The Golden Gun (1974) Happy 50th anniversary! Whilst it's still not a favourite, I have definitely grown to appreciate this one more in recent years. #JamesBond

@SpyHards Definitely Scaramanga - who doesn’t love Christopher Lee as a ‘dark side of Bond’ antagonist?

@KevBot_007 Agreed, and it’s also great in Christopher Wood’s novelisation of the film. When it goes into Anya’s background before she was recruited by the KGB you can tell why she and Bond work so well together.

@SpyHards From Russia With Love is the only one I've really played and completed. I did try out Goldeneye Reloaded but couldn't get into it.

@JonesTheBond2 It improved for me after seeing the film at the cinema during the 60th re-releases. I used to think Renard’s lack of feeling pain gets forgotten here but looking at the fight closely I realise the space is so confined that it’s still hard for either him or Bond to move with ease.

@Thunderballs007 Always liked this shot. Fun bit of direction to have a peaceful looking setting and then the man suddenly bursts in through the wall.😄 Funny, but also quite attention grabbing!

@ForBondFansOnly Yes, I think he recognises that the performance lacked considerable menace. Whilst Blofeld is known for his stoicism at times, Waltz didn’t give him further layers. He just plays him calm to the point of being boring. We needed to see the psychotic side to his Blofeld.

@Really007pod @007 For me it’s a tie between Dawson/Pohlmann and Pleasence. They just fit more with how I see the character. Savalas and Gray give good villain performances on their own but with them I often don’t feel like I’m watching Blofeld but rather an entirely different character.

@film_quiz @Thunderballs007 You're right, I have checked and the carnation is mentioned in Mankiewicz's revised first draft of the script! It's interesting, because I think it fits the notion they were going for of Bond as a fish out of water in Vegas.

@trevorbaxendale Yeah, it just shows how much we owe to writers like Richard Maibaum and Paul Dehn, and even Guy Hamilton as director for making the story work so neatly.
