My book is up for pre-order. Have a look if you're interested in applied #linguistics, language lifecycles, #latinxstudies, and #hispanicstudies.

The #language we use to talk to #AI matters! (Tbh, I too give better answers when people treat me politely)

@RColesworthy Idk about everyone else, but all my parents ever did was work and go to church. I think that for others who share that experience, they probably haven't had much play modeled for them by adults. Maybe they think they have to kill that when they grow up.

I asked Snapchat in my natural #Québécois accent if it could understand me. It didn't and switched to English. This reminds me of my first trip to Paris. #Ailimit #linguistics #francais #languages @Snapchat @Nos_langues @OQLF

I'm proud of myself, I used "balderdash" and "flapdoodle" in the same paragraph today. #WritingCommunity #AcademicChatter #AcademicWriting @Acwri

@Penenberg @AmyClukey @BiellaColeman I've done this but with a painting. I have them describe scent, taste, texture and sound of the scene depicted in addition to visual cues. There's always a lot of examples and confidence building needed, but it helps them think more abstractly in a new language.

@DrJustFutures I think that often those people don't want to think critically about their own wages because it's so depressing and it's often very hard to do much about it short of leaving a field they clearly care very much about.

Hay que llamar a las cosas por su nombre. Eso de poner buena cara y "portarse bien" ante lo absurdo, como pasa en la política de EEUU, no lo entenderé jamás.

The thing about @googletranslate and other #AI is that, if there's a misunderstanding in a high stakes situation, how do people discover it? When? Who is responsible for the consequences? #languages #langtwt #linguistics @BGSU_Languages
