Utah is making moves that seemed totally impossible when the team was in Arizona. Amazing what you can do with an owner willing and able to spend 💰
Coyotes fans must be painfully jealous today.

Now that we have a moment, let’s take a closer look at those jerseys 🔎
This year’s draft picks will be the only ones to receive these one-of-a-kind jerseys🧵🩵

The Coyotes arena land auction is one month from today.
Alex Meruelo has said he's "committed to winning" the auction.
One month from today, we'll know whether he's a man of his word, or a liar and a fraud.

People will tell you that July 4th is Independence Day.
But Coyotes fans know the REAL Independence Day is June 24th. It's the day that the Coyotes gained their independence from Alex Meruelo.
So Happy
#IndependenceDay
... 10 days late!
Imagine finding out on social media that your job, your life as you know it, could drastically change.
Unacceptable for the Coyotes to not tell players ANYTHING.

By my count, 44 former Coyotes are on active
#NHL
rosters to start the season:
#UtahHC
Carcone, Cooley, Crouse, Doan, Durzi, Guenther, Hayton, Ingram, Keller, Kerfoot, Kesselring, Kolyachonok, Maccelli, McBain, O'Brien, Schmaltz, Välimäki, Vejmelka

On this day (July 1) in 1996:
You could consider this day the birthday of the Phoenix Coyotes 🎂
They began operations on this day, and named Don Hay as their first head coach. Hay led the team to the playoffs, but was fired after the season 🤷

One year ago today (May 16th):
Tempe voters rejected the Arizona Coyotes. The proposal to build a new arena and entertainment district failed: 56% no, 44% yes. One of the final nails in the franchise's coffin.
👇 This is what could have been. Instead, the land is still a dump.
Instead of thinking about
#UtahHC
playing tonight, think back to this date (Oct. 10) in 1996: the first home game in Coyotes history.
Phoenix beat the Sharks 4-1. Shane Doan scored his first of 395 goals in the desert.
What do you remember about that game?
Per NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly,
Alex Meruelo has agreed to and signed all of the necessary agreements and paperwork to relinquish his rights to the Coyotes. The process is complete.
Happy 26th birthday to
@icedenaz
!
Ice Den Scottsdale had its grand opening in June 5, 1998. It served as the Coyotes' practice facility for 26 years. More importantly, it's helped the game of hockey grow in the desert. That mission continues, even with the

gone. HBD! 🥳🎂
Many people lost their jobs when the Coyotes left town. I've been thinking quite a bit about one in particular:
What Happened to Howler?
Pro sports mascot jobs aren't exactly in abundance. The person behind the mask can't be Utah's mascot; they don't have one (yet).
What is
Trump speaking at Mullett Arena:
This would be a great venue for hockey. You know, they should really have a hockey team here. What a shame that your team was taken away under lyin' Kamala. I will bring back the Coyotes and Make Arizona Great Again!
(FAKE QUOTE - IT'S A JOKE)
Happy 43rd birthday to one of the Coyotes' greatest goalscorers, Radim Vrbata! 🥳
He's 4th in goals in
#Yotes
history behind Doan, Tkachuk, and Keller. He's also one of only 10 players to log 500 games in the desert.
Happy 23rd birthday to a member of the Coyotes "one-timers" club, Aku Räty! 🎂
His only game with the
#Yotes
was their final game. He tallied an assist in their 5-2 win over the Oilers.
He was also the only player in Coyotes history to wear number 85.
Random former Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes player:
Brian Boucher
I could list many facts here, but only gonna list ✌️
- 5 straight shutouts in '03-'04
- 332:01 shutout sequence
Both are modern-era NHL records. Legendary.

#NHL
players with more points than Clayton Keller since the All-Star Break:
Connor McDavid
That's it. That's the list.
Clayton Keller is ELITE 🔥

How long do you think it will it take for Coyotes gear to become trendy and vintage like Whalers gear?
Got some bad news, folks.

On This Day (May 4th) in 2012:
The Phoenix Coyotes blanked the Predators 1-0 in Nashville to take a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Shane Doan scored the game's only goal in the 1st period. Mike Smith stopped all 25 shots he faced.

Here's your random former Coyotes player for today:
G Harri Säteri
He will always be remembered for his role in the final Coyotes game at Gila River Arena. He entered the game after Karel Vejmelka gave up 4 goals in 6:57.
Säteri then
The Coyotes had several goal songs in their history:
Werewolves of London
The Hey Song
Crowd Chant
Song 2
But the one that stuck the longest was Howlin' for You by The Black Keys. The
#Yotes
began using it in 2011, and it remained until the end.
The Coyotes are halfway through their season. It's a good time to compare this season to last. And in many statistical categories, there practically is no comparison.
We should be looking at this season as a rousing success, regardless of whether the
#Yotes
make the playoffs.
Happy 34th birthday to former Arizona Coyotes center and alternate captain Derek Stepan! 🎂🎉
#Yotes
P.S. Weird to see him without the beard in this photo. Didn't think it was him at first!
Remembering an original Coyote:
Igor Korolev played 41 games in the
#Yotes
first season, scoring 3 G and 7 A.
Korolev died in 2011. He was a coach for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in Russia; a plane crash killed the entire team.
Today (Sept. 6) would have been Korolev's 54th birthday.
Today on 5/3, we look at the two Coyotes who wore number 53.
Derek Morris had two stints in AZ. He was acquired from the Avalanche in 2004, traded to the Rangers in 2009, and reacquired the Bruins in 2010.
He logged 544 games as a Coyote over ten seasons. (1/2)

🎉 Happy 24th birthday to Barrett Hayton! 🎂
It's a bummer he missed so much of the
#Yotes
final season with injury. He was coming off his best season of his career - 19 G, 24 A. But in '23-'24: 3 G, 7 A.
He's a restricted free agent. Where do you want to see him next season?
Today's random former Coyotes player is:
LW Ladislav Nagy

#Yotes
☑️ 92 G, 157 A
☑️ Point-per-game player over '03-'04 and '05-'06 seasons
☑️ Traded to Dallas in 2007
My ideal scenario: Meruelo loses. Bettman says enough. Bettman gives Meruelo the boot. Bettman finds a better owner.
Will that happen? Is that even possible? Probably not. But in my head, it sounds amazing.
#Yotes
Sources: the June 27 land auction in Phoenix already has 4 bidders registered including Meruelo. That means there will be at least 3 bidders against Meruelo, and maybe more as there is still plenty of time for others to register. Should be interesting.
In Memory of Sergei Berezin
