@NL730E71 @3rdEyeDude @DriveSmart_IN @RSGuy_India @SafetyOverSpeed @SafeDriver @TopDriverIndia #2 is right. Poor road surfaces need much slower speeds. #3 as well. People tend to swerve before braking. In a straight line, brake hard, & if impossible to stop, then only swerve. With 3.5 seconds of CAS ahead, the #dashcam car could have easily stopped. He chose not to brake.

@skc2000rpm @SafetyOverSpeed From the PoV of the dashcam car: - 5-second static CAS violated; - lane violated; - did not 📯 on blind turn. From PoV of motorcycle: - too fast; - saw pedestrian before seeing car, didn't slow down, ran wide on turn; - poor brake application technique; - did not 📯. 2 idiots!

@RSGuy_India @skc2000rpm @TopDriverIndia @SriniKay @sidpatankar @Team_Road_Squad @theyawninchihua Keep hands at 9-3 positions, keep fingers away from horn button, keep 15 inches of space between face and steering centre when properly seated for driving. Always belt up. Search Google images for airbag-induced arm degloving, thumb avulsion, maxillofacial injuries. Retweet.

Google or ChatGPT don't have a proper answer. Here's a thread on following distances while driving, also known as the dynamic #CrashAvoidanceSpace #CAS . 1/6

@LazyTourer Since you feel lack of knowledge is not the issue how many can answer this simple question without googling the answer ;) Would you recommend a 2-second or 3-second following distance on highways, and why.

While sending automated ticket or challan is easy, most don't pay up for months & yrs. Then amnesty schemes are offered by govts, with 70-90% discounts on fines. Completely ruins people's respect of the law, and makes for even greater illegal driving. #RoadSafety @DriveSmart_IN

@AdishankarS @kirankumargoli @RSGuy_India @DriveSmart_IN @SafetyOverSpeed @TopDriverIndia @Team_Road_Squad @ReduceRoadRisks Agreed as well, but enforcement is easy and cheap, just install cameras everywhere and start issuing automatic fines. Technology these days is so advanced. Plus impossible to bribe once it's on record.

Random uncontrolled driving, mindless crashes, deaths and injuries - too many such disturbing visuals from Indian roads. Authorities need to pull the reins on this circus of mayhem. Revoke #DrivingLicense for 1 year, of anyone violating traffic rules 3 times. @MORTHRoadSafety 1/5

The car is no match to a fixed concrete median. Drive carefully and avoid overtaking near bridges, wherever the road is either deviating or merging, where there's a scope for changing lanes/lane width. #RoadSafety @TopDriverIndia @ReduceRoadRisks @SafetyOverSpeed @RSGuy_India

Until we stop calling avoidable collisions and crashes on our roads as accidents, our fatalistic attitude towards #RoadSafety will never improve. Accidents are 'Acts of God' that one has no control over. Cars, bikes, pedestrians have #fullcontrol over #crashes .

GooglePhotos reminds me that 10 yrs ago there were no underride bars on trucks, & people were sticking their cars under trucks carelessly. Nothing's changed - new laws, safer cars, automated DL testing, yet we see many more - & more severe - such incidents today. What's wrong?

@DriveSmart_IN This style of driving with zero #LateralCAS has become so common among Indian drivers. It's supposed to show off their skill of how well they can judge the margins of the car they're driving. There are no 🥉 being given away, but they refuse to believe that! #DriveToSurvive

Driver education has to be preceded by basic education. When an uneducated citizen "procures" a DL from a small town, and buys a new car, he fulfils his own dream, but can extinguish the dreams of many others. Managed to avoid a sideswipe crash with 1 such specimen this evening.

Drivers of automatic transmission cars may find it easier to start driving, but are prone to these kinds of crashes, where they forget to hold the brake while the car is stationary. #TrainIndiansToDriveBetter @DriveSmart_IN @RSGuy_India

@DriveSmart_IN The higher the speed, the more the space required around the car. #CAS is like a balloon or bubble around your car - it expands as speed increases. Don't allow that balloon 🎈/ bubble 💭 to burst 💥.

Driving around curves, especially in the mountains, need awareness about #static #CAS . Watch the following video to understand:

There can be anything behind the curve. Drive at speed that allows us to spot the hazard and slow down on time without the need of harsh braking or swerving. On hills we should be able to stop on our side of the road and within the road we can see. #CAS #DriveSmart

Not just our roads, our drivers, riders & all other road users, are far from ideal. No need to debate on what he/she/they should have done or must do - instead, reflect on what you could have done differently. It's called OWNERSHIP OF RESPONSIBILITY. #RoadSafety @skc2000rpm

@SafetyOverSpeed Somehow, this country is populated by people who always want to come first, whether when driving or in exams - by hook, or by crook. The extremely competitive attitude on our roads increases risks & dangers manyfold, and the unwillingness to obey rules makes it worse.

@skc2000rpm @SafetyOverSpeed @Team_Road_Squad The car guy and the motorcyclist have an ongoing #roadrage in progress. The way the car swerved harder to the left after first impact with the m'cyclist, and the way the m'cyclist swerved away to save himself, tells its own story. This isn't careless driving.

- and no memory retained of the episode. Sleepwalkers are also capable of picking up keys and going for a drive, without remembering it - but they don't end up in a crash. So #HighwayHypnosis is a much lesser cause of accidents than #drowsydriving or #distracteddriving . 9/10

@DriveSmart_IN @SafetyOverSpeed This is more about the dashcam driver not watching the front wheels of the truck. But your point of not overtaking from the left using the hard shoulder is also valid, given how many trucks with lights off park there at night. #DriveToSurvive #DriveBetweenLines

Recording beautiful footage during travels, without taking hands off the wheel or holding a mobile phone. 5. Some dashcams work as ADAS, warning drivers.

Biggest block to improving road safety🚦in 🇮🇳 : Most ppl, including some Sr. govt. officials believe road rules can be described in a 2 pg brochure! MVDR 2017 has 40 rules CMVR 1989 has ~50 rules Compare: Like compressng 4 yr Engg program into 4 mnths💁🏻‍♂️ Thoughts? #RoadSafety

@skc2000rpm @SafetyOverSpeed @TopDriverIndia @Team_Road_Squad I don't know about others, but I always slow down (and advise so) when approaching a deeply shaded area. Eyes don't adjust to sudden darkness, and potholes/animals/barriers etc. in the dark will be missed. Overtaking is secondary.
