The spine is most vulnerable in RTA injuries. Spinal stabilisation is not something that help-providers know or care about. They lift a victim by his arms and legs, forcibly make him sit/stand up, even take him to hospital in a rickshaw. Life is cheap in India.

Unless driving trainers are themselves trained to drive safely, by qualified & certified trainers, this is a problem that will continue forever. A graduate in Mech. Engg. or diploma in Automobile Engg. with 5yo DL isn't enough to teach others to drive.

In other countries, a headlight flash is a polite signal to say "I'm giving you way". On motorways a h/l flash can warn you of a speed trap (illegal to do it in some countries).

What is the job of highway patrol in India? I have seen they go after seeing vehicles parked improperly. Also they don't admonish the vehicles which have no indicators or glowing stickers.

Common problem with empty trucks of various sizes. Their torquey engines make them go really fast, and the rear brake bias to account for loaded condition, makes the tail spin out under hard braking. Add a novice driver, and this happens!

Someone about to rear-end you - not much can be done, except floor the accelerator and get out of the way IF POSSIBLE. Most speedbreakers don't damage cars at moderate speeds - but you could lose control. Always stay out of the path of heavy vehicles.

While sending automated ticket or challan is easy, most don't pay up for months & yrs. Then amnesty schemes are offered by govts, with 70-90% discounts on fines. Completely ruins people's respect of the law, and makes for even greater illegal driving.

Agreed as well, but enforcement is easy and cheap, just install cameras everywhere and start issuing automatic fines. Technology these days is so advanced. Plus impossible to bribe once it's on record.

The car is no match to a fixed concrete median.
Drive carefully and avoid overtaking near bridges, wherever the road is either deviating or merging, where there's a scope for changing lanes/lane width.

GooglePhotos reminds me that 10 yrs ago there were no underride bars on trucks, & people were sticking their cars under trucks carelessly. Nothing's changed - new laws, safer cars, automated DL testing, yet we see many more - & more severe - such incidents today. What's wrong?

Somehow, this country is populated by people who always want to come first, whether when driving or in exams - by hook, or by crook. The extremely competitive attitude on our roads increases risks & dangers manyfold, and the unwillingness to obey rules makes it worse.

The car guy and the motorcyclist have an ongoing

in progress. The way the car swerved harder to the left after first impact with the m'cyclist, and the way the m'cyclist swerved away to save himself, tells its own story. This isn't careless driving.

This is more about the dashcam driver not watching the front wheels of the truck. But your point of not overtaking from the left using the hard shoulder is also valid, given how many trucks with lights off park there at night.

Absolutely agree. Someone in the government has to take the bold step of introducing

MVDR 2017 has 40 rules
CMVR 1989 has ~50 rules

I don't know about others, but I always slow down (and advise so) when approaching a deeply shaded area. Eyes don't adjust to sudden darkness, and potholes/animals/barriers etc. in the dark will be missed. Overtaking is secondary.
