@Soly_Reds Are the $4M-$10M players really what people are upset about though? The larger issues seem to stem from the IFA posting process for players coming from professional-quality leagues and TV rights, but somehow a salary cap is being pitched as something that would fix either.

@StingersStinger I don't think that's actually true though. And, funny enough, the big market teams all draft really well too. It's more of a difference in infrastructure (and TV rights deals) that's caused the disparity people have a problem with. I really don't think a hard cap does much.

@GoCyberJohn I don't understand what about the NFL would indicate that it has more parity than MLB. The NBA, sure... nowadays. But isn't that also why it's waning in interest these days? NHL's salary structured is so divorced from reality that I don't think it's right to compare.

@StingersStinger I just don't think you enjoy baseball that much in that case... thoughts on the 2023 World Series that had two teams fresh off 100-loss seasons fighting for the title?

@GoCyberJohn That's also just not really true, especially recently. The Royals just went from a 106 loss team to an 86-76 playoff team in one year. The DBacks lost 110 games in 2021 and were in the World Series 2 years later. The Rangers lost 102 in 2021 and *won* the WS in 2023.

@RedsIntel The Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers were just in the World Series *last year*. How are teams not at a level playing field?

@Clay_sno It would also allow players to hit free agency during their prime sooner, but you have to assume teams would prefer 6 cost-controlled years vs. more player movement... right? Feels like a pro-player change that they would have to make concessions for.

@Clay_sno There are also repeat offender taxes in baseball, though. I also think the impact of one singular player is much greater in the NBA vs. MLB too, which makes restricting player signings more important. I just think the larger issue is other teams not competing with LAD by choice.

@OfficiallyJace Everything's always "not a deterrent" until it is. I'm old enough to remember the Warriors being comfortable living above the tax forever, but they had to do a minor teardown. Same deal with Cohen & the Mets. The other teams need to spend more, not the big ones spend less.
